Time for him to retire. He's really gone off the deep end lately.

I live in the Johnstown area and as far as I am concerned it is time for him to buy a horse and ride off into the sunset. In my humble opinion he has become not only a local embarassment, but thanks to Saturday night live, a national one also. This area has a strong voter registration edge in favor of the Democrats, and regardless of his rants in regard to the people of this area being racist and rednecks, and also his scathing attacks on the Marines who he accused of killing innocent civilians in Iraq, of these MarinesI believe all but one have been exonerated of all charges, he will probably get elected once again. I heard a remark on the radio this AM by him were he called his opponent a carpetbagger from Virginia and that there was "No G-- d-- way he is going to get elected to serve the people of this area."  Well, that remains to be seen. Mr. Murtha has brought enough "pork" into this region, that if it had been turned into Spam, there would probably have been enough to feed the whole world for years to come. I want to take this time to state that I neither support, nor do I take a stand against Mr. Murtha. I just sincerely hope that people use the right to vote that so many have fought and died for, and just go and vote for the canditate's of their choice. As for me, I'll be glad when November 5 gets here. I'm tired of hearing all the personal attacks and  neagative campaign tactics conducted by those on all sides of the political spectrum. In regard to the canditates, please, just inform me in what direction you invision the country heading, and how you would go about steering us in that direction. I would like to see people elected, regardless of political affilation, who would put the welfair and safety of this still great nation first. It is time to put the petty bickering and finger pointing behind us, and hopefully elect those that will do all that is in their power to see that the best interest of this country come before partisan politics. God bless America.

still love him, mccain, and any other vet who served in that war.  whatever they have done since, good or bad, should be taken with consideration.  sorry, i am biased, not to the point of voting for, but biased in favor of vets.

Once Murtha's gone,, so are most of the very few decent jobs left in johnstown,,forget about any more defense based jobs or companys opening or staying opened in this area. And how about the cancer center in johnstown,,where they just cut a bunch of jobs and cut-back some others,,pretty sure Murthas name is  on that too. Everyone says something they wished they hadn't,,politicians are humans too they have brain slips and bad momments like the rest of us. He is a cash cow for his district and will beat Russell by double digits.

Not sure that Russell's the answer either, but Jack's put his foot so far in his mouth lately he's liable to dissapear. He's made too many statements for them all to be accidental "slips". Always liked the guy, but I wonder how stable he is at this point.

We'll be getting a new guy this year on the Eastern part of the state, Peterson's retired. Maybe the new guy will actually get something accomplished.

I disagreed with him putting the bad mouth on those Marines especially since he is a former Marine but he wasn't too far off the mark with his comment about racism. Like you said CATMAN, he's brought alot of $$$ into his district. I'd trade our rep.(Shuster) for Murtha anytime.

CTC and DRS technologies are two of the major companies he brought. I dont see anyone bringing more work to this area than he does. He may have said some stupid stuff but you kind of have to vote for him. He is one of the most influential people in congress. If Murtha leaves so does the work. Also who do you think got Gamesa to come here?

you can make more money an hour at mcdonalds then you can a drs, ctc is nearly impossible to get a job for unless  you have a degree and every security clearance in the world. my mom works for ctc but can only get in so much because of that other then that most of those jobs those 2 companys the pay the good money are to the crooked jag offs in this town. like most the businesses in this town.

Other then jwf indistries who murtha wasnt involved in, and nearly screwed them from getting the military contracts.

but again what has murtha done for johnstown anyone else who got elected couldnt of done. Mayor zucco is just another one of his buddies who also is a crook.

This redneck racist is backing Russell all the way. Sure, Murtha did bring some jobs to this area but that old senile bastard has to go. He is making a mockery of this area. How much longer could he go on anyway? I think Russell would be good for our area.

Im originally from Johnstown, actually Mineral Point, east taylor township, Conemaugh Vally HS grad. I now live in Sharpsville, PA near Sharon. Murtha is an icon, he has brought some jobs and I do believe that once he is not putting the "Pork" to the area some of them will go away.  Change is what it is.

JWFI...Bill Polachak,(forget how to spell it) know him perosnally, should be the guy running for office, he took a welding operation that was started in a two care garage in cover hill and turned it into a multi million dollar company.  I'm sure he made some enemys along the way, but he also made it a point to keep the jobs in Jtown.

Murtha is what he is, face it, we are full of racist rednecks in western pennsylvania, head down the the VFW and listen, the other night even some of the guys saying they are voting for OBAMA were refering to him with racial slurs while they say they cant believe they are voting for him.  It made me laugh at the time and think "Murtha is right"

Im out of the district now so I dont get to vote for or against Murtha.  I know the guy running against him was from virginia and is retired from the military.  Was he originally from the area and was in VA because of his military service?  if he is not originally from the area I hope he does not win.

I want to but if we go, the wife said she will take away my overnight trip the next week. I might just have to go to work super early that day and get back a bit late at night.  Do you want to ride with me to "work"?

Kyler not to keep argueing but what about Gamesa. The plant is not in Johnstown but 15 min away. These are desent paying jobs and also alot of the work not done at the plant is subcontracted to some local busnisses how does this not help the area.

I know several people who were excited to get jobs at gamesa and a few months later they were laid off.  I think Rendel had alot to do with Gamesa, if I remember correctly.

The big problem is the overall glass, not the one or two success stories.  Walk through johnstown sometime.  It's dirty, falling appart and full of closed up small business.  A big guy here or there may suceed due to no taxes and basically getting paid to move into a business park, but the small guy in Johnstown.....forget it.  Sometimes the Galleria mall seems to have more empty stores than full ones.  Remember the CAR DEALERSHIP that took up residence there?  How about the signs in the mall?  "Come back to Johnstown, the floods over."  That says it all for me.

Murtha has had his shot. He is now more about being in the news blasting for his party than helping his area.

Time for Murtha to go.

I respect the man for his service...But for him to turn on the Marines. He wears that badge proudly as he should, so why would he turn on them the way he did...Lost alot of credibility with me with that action...

Good points have been made, do we all agree the "pork barrel spending" is not good for either the one the money is taken from and not good for the one that get it.? Did anyone else see where J Murtha is now asking for 1 million$  right now for his camp pain?   Business creates jobs not polications. Polications tax , regulate, and have their hand out for $ to keep their jobs.

tax them bastages that you want a job from, that will show them.  oh what about this anthem of CHANGE, you want change change murtha.  he's as much a part of the problem as you think bush is except muthas been a problem for a lot longer time.

that's a great plan you have there democrates, go johnstown do the right thing and get rid of murtha

I think the whole thing is hilarious for one reason, because his comments are one hundred percent correct. I have found an exception in the immediate City of Pittsburgh, because it has strong international cultural support and acceptance, but even close to the city, the redneck mentality is so evident it's sickening.

A great example is the mentality expressed on this forum.

Pix scottie, You are right this is the mentality of alot of people in this area they just dont want to hear it. The ones that get most upset about his comment are generally the ones with this mentality. Bing, as for him turning on the marines, I don't think he meant all marines just the ones in the issue. I respect all people serving for us but I agree there is a difference between a marine and a cold blooded killer.

Roll, I believe all the marines, with the exception of one who did not go to trial yet, have been cleared of any wrong doing and declared innocent. He was right there to label them all cold blooded murders. What a way to treat your fellow marines.

My redneck mentality is i can live off the land cheaper then I can live off of society. I love hunting and fish, I hate fat old pricks that line their pockets with the local populations money. This town is better off being redneck then it is acting like we have money and a great economy.  I keep hearing its time for a change in the white house and i think its time for a change in office for our local parties as well. I think its time for Russell.

Kyler, If you want to live off the land so much you should move to Africa not Salix. No one said Johnstown is a rich town or the economy is good. I do think there are alot worse places than Johnstown. I think people will be sorry if Murtha is not voted back, like I said before if he leaves so does the work he brought. I dont care what anyone thinks he brought more work to this area than anyone else will. Do you think the guy from Virginia will do better than the guy who is from here? Do you think he has more pull than Murtha? answer is NO

what WORK? murtha didnt bring the american red cross here so id be perfectly happy if he was gone and his so called jobs were to leave too.

He didnt bring JWFI to johnstown so if hed leave there would still be hundreds of jobs there.

Pepsi he didnt bring

those are 3 great places to work and pay well that if murtha was gone theyd still be here.

pull for what his own good? happends everywhere id rather have someone younger, coming from a place that is run right and knows what its gonna take to improve this area.
