curious to hear how the pimy trip turned out. i was lucky enough to draw a blind over 10 years ago, too bad out of the four of us who went... we only got 1 goose and a nice fine from the GC because our friend forgot to put the plug back into his slug gun to limit it to 2 shells in the tube.

Had a simular expieriance about 10 years ago as well.  I will never go there again for the the drawing.  The guy that got the violation quit hunting waterfowl after 20 or more years.  He was so disqusted with how it went down.

Well the day was beautiful.
Arrived at 5:20 and asigned blind 36.
This was the farthest blind near the main road by the maint. building.
It was a long drag from the building to the blind, dragging 10 super magnum shells. (getting too old for that)
Also had 2 doz. magnum deacs. set up.
We were looking right at the pond and the dirt road. Wish we knew how close the road was.
As it got lighter(6:30), the mallards were flying into the pond  but none near us.
Some shooting by the lake, (blinds up front).
No geese flew till almost 9.
A blue bird day and they were high. All shots were of sky busters.
At 9:30 a flock came from behind us and we decided to give them a go.
One dropped and one glided into the pond.
I was using a 3in. Berreta 303, the other two guys used 31/2 Bennellis.
I knew that I didn,t hit any.
As the hr. past we must have seen 500 geese land in and near the pond.
More sky busters.
Saw one fall that was on oxigine.
Another flock came from behind and were low enough.
Again we unloaded our guns.
One more came crashing to the ground.
Mika was on it in a flash.
She brought it back with it flapping away.
A few quick twist and put it out of its misery.
Watched an eagle fly around us and some deer running around
No more birds came our way but the dead bird that I rung its neck, came back to life .
Tough bird.!
Few birds brought into the check in. It was oviouse that they knew where to fly.
So, the conclusion is. It ain,t worth it to get up at 3:30 to shoot a goose.

hahaha that was basically the same scenario for us... lots of birds but none close enough to get decent shots. i drew a blind on the first row from the lake, but farthest left... AKA: The worst of the best.

better luck elsewhere
