30 between 4 of us largest was a big brown.  most on rainbow power bait.  Also had luck with power worms, 1/2 crawlers and meal wms.  Fished the pool above waterman rd.  There is a pull off there for 5 or so cars.  Threw them all back except for 2 bleeders.  Water color was great.  Going to Deer Creek tomorrow.  Good luck to all   Mark

Oh and if anyone see's the asshole that's just tossing trout onto the ground and not relaseing them I hope you say something to them.  Saw 2 rainbows just tossed up in the woods.  A kid could have a great time catching those!

everyone one that i met on Peters/Piney this weekend were great individuals.  therewas one guy that i saw pull out 4 in a row in one hole and toss them all on the stringer.  i reminded him that Peters Creek and Piney Run are stocked by a local club that preaches Catch and Release.  He didn't seem to care, apparently he was going to eat about 6 pounds of freshly stocked rainbow for dinner that day...  but you'll have that anywhere.

I catch and release everything I hook and I like it when others do.  On that note I'm not going to tell someone else what they should do with their fish if it is caught legally.  If the club doesn't like it maybe they should look at stocking catch & release waters only.  Or push to get that stretch changed to catch and release.  Until then maybe you should leave the high horse at home...

I have no problem with someone reminding others the local club encourages catch and release.  I dont consider that being on a "high horse"  Are they allowed to keep the fish.....sure....but would it be better for all of us if they would catch and release...of course it would.  It certainly is legal but I wouldnt take any offense if someone reminded me the local club would prefer we catch and release.  Maybe next time that person thinks twice.

ha, good replies.  maybe it wouldn't be a problem to keep a fish or two here or there IF you were a member.  if you want to take fish for food then perhaps fish a state stocked water.  and i didn't tell him what to do.  i reminded him what the club states on their website.   keep only those you are going to eat.  let's all have a look at the club's website before we all start thinking we know everything.  myself included.

I'm going to take a chance and say that Peters Creek is not an approved trout stream and that local clubs do the stocking.

Fishing was good Friday the day before the opener.....something wrong with that picture by my sense of fair play. Catch and release but few seem to do it. Stocked for your pleasure of fishing not keeping.....except for the kids. If it was my club I'd try and put the fish in an approved stream to eliminate the greedy vultures.

LBK,

It was hard work, the river was up, not real clear, they were laying about 5 to 10 feet from shore, and they were damn picky!

I Just recently applied to be a member of TCAA and have no problem with people taking fish (personally i wouldn't want anything from that creek -mine runoff and sewage treatment facility a few miles up) If the eat them thats fine, the stream most likely won't support all the fish stocked anyhow. but don't throw them in the woods!     The reason the club stoks this with trout so local anglers could go somewhere close, if not for that than there would never be a trout in that stream. They also have many kids days down at the stream.  Its a good place for a father to take a child.

I MUST AGREE WHY THROW THE TROUT IN THE WOODS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE,BUT THEN AGAIN WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH.PETERS CREEK IS A GEAT PLACE TO TAKE A CHILD FISHING.HAVE TAKEN MY 2 SONS AGES 9, AND 11 THERE JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND. DO NOT FISH ALL THE TIME JUST FOR A RIODE OR,WALK.AND TO PICKUP CANS THEY ARE RECYCLING.I DO LIVE WITHIN 2 MILES OF THE CREEK.HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 20 YEARS.WHAT A CHANGE SINCE THEN.LETS KEEP IT CLEAN OF GARBAGE ,AND GARBAGE LIKE PERSONS!I HAVE A OLD PFC BOOK THAT SAYS PETERS CREEK WAS ONCE AN APPROVED TROUT WATER ,IS THIS TRUE DOES ANY ONE KNOW THIS FOR SURE.ALSO LOTS OF HISTORY IN THAT AREA.

Yup. I didn't do any good today though. The algea was dying back and making a floatilla of big gobs of booger like matter.

Made my flies all boogery, and I think the fish are somewhat dormant at this point. I also got a good clue as to the question lately of "what happened to the fish?". There were some HUGE talon like footprints in the snow, about the size of my hand. Looked like some type of large predatory bird.

That algae is terrible down there.  You would think the cold would kill so of that ****.  Do you think the tracks were turkey, i've been seeing them down there?

I guess it is the cold that is killing it. It was washed clear of chlorophyl and comming off in slimmy clumps.

I don't know if the tracks were turkey or some other type of large bird. I've seen some crane or some other type of very large water bird in the creek intermittently over the years, and there was only one single print in the area. The turkeys always seem to travel in dozens.
What ever it was it was about 4-5 inches wide and about the same length.

That does seem to big for a turkey.  I have seen some blue herons down there.  Not sure how big there tacks are.  I've heard rumors of bald eagle on the mon, but nothing legitimate

Been thinking about peters pretty heavly here recently (cabin fever setting in i suppose) already starting to get some ideas as far as new tackle & gear for the upcoming season, did'nt get my start until mid-summer last year due to a knee surgery, looking forward to this year!!! As far as the tracks you've seen, i most definately think that it was that crane that patrols peters creek, i've seen it many times, IT IS HUGE!!! it actually scared me & my brother-in-law a few times last year when it would come swooping down stream low.
