Took the wife and kids out on the Allegheny Sunday.  Popped the smallies really well on tubes and power minnows.  The highlight of the day was a Sheephead that my son banged on a jig.  His smile was worth a 1000 pictures...  I spent most of the day untangling lines and unhooking fish as the rest of my family was more than happy to keep me busy...

Cool!  My uncle was fishing below Franklin last weekend, and said their highlight was seeing about a foot long eel.  Is that common, or is that a new and upcoming thing?  I never saw one in there.  Actually I never saw one, period.

Your son is going to remember that forever. At that age they are like a sponge!

I wonder about the eel also.  I have heard about them but never saw them.  That would be neat to get a few of them in the river.

I've seen eels at Lock 3 in Harmarville only once a few years ago.

Cauhgt more than a doz. Eels up from Oakmont in the 70's - 80's plus Hellbenders, leatherback turtles & Gar. Haven't seen a water serpent since the 70's  They gave me the creeps but were good at bringin' Bullheads to shore & then suckin' 'em down.

I have to admit I had no idea that eels made it all the way up the Allegheny. Remember folks, these fish are born in the ocean!
