This weekends forecast in not lookin' good. Sat. looks busted, Sunday is a maybe. If we get the "predicted" rain/wind...things could definitely approach blow out conditions. Along with the rain....high winds are called for as well, which will blow down all the loose leaves. I am not trying to discourage anyone, I'll fish/hunt in mud myself. Just load the rod/shotgun with nitro mags...and force it.
Just thought I'd share. I'll update on the actual conditions as they come about.

Here's the weather report I use....The hourly forecast is reasonably accurate.
http://www.accuweather.com/us/pa/erie/16502/city-weather-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&u=1&traveler=0

DISCLAIMER: Erie weather is subject to change at any time, for any reason...including my own amusement. We seem to have our own atmosphere...and often predictions suck.

watch the weather at 5pm and it will change at 6pm.  Thats ERIE

Since I work outside all day I watch it closely. The other day they called for sunny and 68 all day long, but that didnt happen till 3 pm as it was wet all morning and no sun till after lunch time. Wish I could have a job where you could be wrong 100% of the time, get paid, and not get fired.  I should have become a Meteorologist.

Looks like a 50% chance of rain today with mostly sunny skies. Yeah thats it !!!!

The morning might be a good time for those of you who are unfamiliar with how Elk normally looks through the cameras at Uncle Johns, to take a look.  That way if bad weather hits, you'll be able to tell how much the creek rose.

The same for the flow gauges.

What discharge on the water gauges do you guys feel is usually optimum conditions?  When I say optimum, I mean increased flow and green/stained water.

Brandy Run guage: painfully low and uneffected; Walnut guage: ditto; recent precip.: barely a trace; Elk web cam: very low and clear; forecast: unreliable; radar: not looking like a deluge.  I think I may need to rethink my rethinking.

went outside for a minute just now and as of 12:02pm (Friday) it's raining.  This is downtown Erie.  Not a heavy rain nor a sprinkle, but a steady rain that will affect the streams in a couple hours.

Hopefully it stops saturday morning when I come up. I mean I dont mind fishing in the rain but Im hoping the creeks wont be blown out. Im bringing my brother up and this will be his first time up. I could care less if I catch one but I want him to. As long as he can land one ill be happy.

I dont think the rains here are going to be enough to blow things out for this weekend. BUt the high winds tonight might bring some debris  into the mix and it might make conditions a little leafy. If ya dont mind picking off leaves?
I will be out there this weekend giving er a go. Good luck to all this weekend.

yinzer nation has arrived, the mupheres are here. it was an interesting night between the guy who casted over me with nightcrawlers while sipping a millerlite and other guys running through the holes chasing the fish and yellin' "catch them"

weather: very windy, you cast 15 feet and the wind takes another 15 off your reel before the bale closes, a good many leaves are in the water too... currently drizzling.

heyiknowyou , yet you stayed there for 1/2 an hour and let him do it right? I would have been gone after the second time or he would have gone. Was that the only place there was feesh?

Its the nature of the beast , you can deal wiff it and dont complain or you can move on and dont complain.

But thats just my 2 cents. Im not trying to tell you what to do as everyone has there own way of dealing wiff such problems. Im just sayin.

I totally agree with you that its a pain in the arse that some do not understand but again its the nature of da beast. We all here love to fish and in ideal situations we would all have our own little section of heaven to fish and all to ourselves BUT that aint how it goes , so we cope and try to get along. As hard as that may be sometimes.

Heyiknowyou, I am a yinzer although I say "Younz" and almost anyone I know does! (except maybe some young girls). Just being technical. Maybe some of the South western Pa boy's will tell how they say it. Anyhow, that is not why I responded. Just curious how far down 79 do you have to live to be a "Yinzer" Locals reply! NICE THREAD! THANKS! lOCALS

I'm in the heart of yinzer nation. And although I almost never say yinz in conversation (ironically, it dropped from my vocabulary in the 2 years i spent in the city), when I DO say it, i say it 'yinz', just like most people around here.

I'll be sure to grace Erie with a generous helping of the pronoun this weekend.
