I just had an idea and i bet people have thought of it before but if the fish comission approved i don't see why a tournment can't happen. Sure we'd have to have rules but for bass or steelies but mainly bass who woild join in?

If the idea were more of a meeting, yes... but If the idea were more of a true tourny, not really.
and along those lines, bass is kind of problematic because really to be very competitive about it, you'd need a boat.

Anyway, I'm kind of turned off by competitive fishing.  knowing my luck, I'd just be a "sucker" donor for the more serious contenders.  I have attended get togethers in the past, often theres a little competition to draw people and give fishermen something to concentrate on.  you can usually tell if its just a friendly amusement by the low entry fees and trivial awards.

I'd be fun though getting everyone together, we would need permission from the comission and people would need access to boats (i can use my uncles) but i think id be a great idea!

Introducing true "competition" into this group? I don't see anything good coming from that.

I agree that if it were just a gathering (think One Fly) that would be good. Last year I toyed with the idea of a Goby tournament, obviously just for the socialization and entertainment, while also eliminating a few of our invasive friends. Still sounds like fun!

You'd need more than just permission......

The PAFBC requires a permit to hold a tournament. The DCNR also requires a fee if using one of the State Park Launches.

The idea of a "get together" is far more feasible and already done.

We did the One Fly - Why didn't you show up? It was a blast!

There were some board members who weren't registered to attend but showed up to chat anyway.

Yes, there was a picnic - actually two - at the one fly. The first picnic was the night before and it was a liquid picnic

A few months back FFPA suggested a dodgeball game......I still think that's a fantastic idea.

Anyone care to do a left to right?
