Combination of things I guess. Social media, guys getting older (or gone), some regulation on the site about 10 years ago that sent a good chunk of the regulars away and I am sure other factors. Seems to be just the horders or whatever we are called that stick with things and don’t move on to the new things. The off topic still stays lively enough to keep me checking it out. But nothing compared what it used to be.

I was really shocked how far that this site back peddled, it was one of my favorite sites

I'll agree with all the above sentiments, just tuned in a week or so ago after being gone for several years and was surprised at the lack of activity. Used to look forward to reading a lot of bull---- along with a good bit of interesting conversation. How things change!

I think this site is on life support. Some of the better posters dead and gone . I know some who left because of the personal attacks. What a shame. So much useful information from fly tying, fishing tips in general, gardening, recipe's, places to stay when up Erie way, etc. The list is long and varied. I met one of my best friends ever due to participating on this site. I think it's a shame that it has come to this. I sincerely miss the good old days when I looked forward to checking it out on a regular basis.
May it RIP.

Not sure if would want it back like before either. Seems most times I google something about fishing in Western Pa. a Fish USA Forum pops up with tons of info on the topic. Still great for the company to promote all they have to offer on fishing info. and sales. Just googled a subject and this popped up  https://forums.fishusa.co...ge/446943-Lake-Arthur/

I’d be just fine if it went back to the days that Young Guru was trying to have his state champion wrestler brother fight everyone or Rhinestone Cowboy was talking moonshine or Scotty was talking about riding his bicycle through the Liberty Tubes. This place was an absurd comedy with some random fishing talk sprinkled in for a while. Just like life should be. Fat Lenny was a cool cat too!

The Fart Knocker is probably a antique by now. You had 500 less posts than the "Great One" had hits under that thread  Oxy brothers.

USS Fartknocker #1 still makes a few summer float trips. #2 takes me out as often as I can get out on her!

My post count was shrunk a few times. I’d imagine that if I am not the all time post leader on this board, I’m pretty dang close. Considering how many of the other blather mouths have left.

Yeah you have Bughawk, Spoonie and BTDT beat by a long shot Tim

I remember every time you posted for awhile you would get docked 100 posts

Maybe FishUSA  should give you a $10,000 gift card to their site. They can afford it and would be a cheap tax write off for them with all you did on here.

If BTDT was around as long as I have been, he would have quadrupled my posts. Mine is mostly longevity. That was when I’d steelhead fish. Some great info back then on actual fishing. Much from yourself, Pensfan and Spoonie (RIP) on Arthur fishing. Turned me from being a river rat and focusing more time on Arthur. But this site was mostly shooting the breeze. Was a fun time and still is at times. Was a good break from work. I’m going on 24 years of working remotely. This site was my “water cooler” talk that others with coworkers have. So a 5-10 minute break from work every few hours in a day adds up quickly. If not for this site back then, I would have had to find another job to have some sort of social interaction.

If FishUSA wanted to give a gift card for it, I could figure out how to use it in an hour or two! I might go do some research now on how I could blow $10k on fishing gear.

What happened to "BTDT"?  Haven't seen any of his posts.

Last 2020 election when results came in he was done. Loaded his house camper/trailer and headed south for warmer climate and travel. Good for him posting that much can't be good for your health.

Most of the other fishing sites around here that get action are full of bit'ching for the most. The ones that specialize in antique/collectable lures, antique minnow bucket site, fishing sale sites & so on & so on, not near as much.

Off topic should have been moderated much more tightly in the past IMO. Too late at this point, it's the only area with any activity. Too many snowflakes had their feathers ruffled and left. I imagine several others left after seeing all the nastiness going on over there. BTDT was the main downfall of this site besides Facebook imo. He Drug every single thread on this site right into the gutter. EVERY SINGLE THREAD.

This board was a shell of what it was in the 00's and 10's by the time he showed up though.  He likely would have been kicked off of the old board.  There were a handful of moderators that would police things back then that wouldn't stand for the personal attacks and other troll like behavior that he started out with when he first showed up.  He would have been banned within a month back then.  He calmed down a lot, but damage was done and had many leave and not come back.

Anything personal on the level that BTDT went to was flagged and warnings given out. I had a few myself for far less than what he did on a daily basis when he first showed up. I’m not even sure if there has been a moderator on these forums for the past 15 years?

Still around, check this site monthly.  But yeah social media has rendered it almost useless.  Great memories though!  I met some good folk on here, still in touch with some of em 15 years later!

Anybody remember the “one fly “ event and the festivities the night before? Indy put a lot of sweat and hard work into making it happen.

Gentlemen,

Mind if I chime in here.
1st, Thank you Bigfoot for the kind words.  I tried.  But got beat down by the bullies.  And the very personal
attacks on my family.  I would like to have the "One Fly" Rendezvous  Again, before I "cross the bridge" but, I
am in bad health and I would, personally, want to exclude certain people.  Also, since I am now in a wheelchair
my fly fishing days are almost over. *can't get near a creek",  my wheelchair gets sunk in my yard.  LOL  I have literally had to       have my wife pull me out of places I've been stuck , ,  with a car.
