Area Water Temps?

I'm looking for water temps across the area, yes I am anxious for the lakes to freeze up. Particularly High Point Lake, Greenlick lake, Acme Dam....but I would love to hear the others if anyone has any!

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan Pymatuning was at 48 degrees on Thursday of last week. That was a two degree drop from the previous Sunday.

Right now there is a solid quarter inch of ice over my pool cover and holding. So I think I am safe in assuming the lake temp has dropped even lower.

Area low and high air temps for the next several days to fluctuate between upper 20s and upper 40s which shouldn't prevent water temps from dropping further.

I'm hoping we don't see the same type of weather we had in my area last year with short freeze cycles and longer warm ups.

Made for some pretty iffy ice in places.

Besides I want some good thick ice to put my new Eskimo Power Auger to test.

BTDT, that is great news! This morning I went a different way to work to check out a small pond that I was hoping had skim ice on it...it did! Few more weeks and we should be there! You are going to love that power auger, a buddy of mine that fishes with me has one. I have the good ole Jiffy sitting in the garage waiting, fired her up and she's running smooth! I did however buy a shanty and a big buddy heater, normal size shanty but wife wants a bigger one!

Don't know about a couple weeks for ice cause it ain't looking good for PA. White Tailed gun season having' any snow but I'm looking' forward, to seeing' ice on the lakes. The sooner the better.

Appreciate the good report on the ice auger. Figured if the fish weren't bite'n for me (and they usually aren't) I could put my business sign out, "Boring Conversations", and cut holes for other anglers at $.50 a hole. Gratuity not included.

Heck I could start a side business selling snow cones.

All traces of ice will be gone by end of next week with temperatures in the 50s and low 60s for a week...and very little overnights below mid 30s...I loved last winter...was able to open water fish all winter!!!...

Just something about being out on the ice, no wind, temps in the teens, after a day of warmer weather. Sitting on a inverted bucket, jigging a lure maybe tipped with live bait, through a hole in the ice, while enjoying a hot coffee and a freshly toasted baloney and cheese sammitch.

Chewing the fat about the days events with good friends as the ice expands while refreezing from the now colder temperatures.

Hearing the ice sing and zing with moans, groans and occasional quivers and shivers, sending newbies to the shoreline.

Heck even those windy or sub-zero days, it's still great to sit in a ice shanty and reminisce about the good Ole days, while the ice sings her songs.

A "FYI" to those not knowing me and a reminder to those wishing they didn't, don't expect many if any fishy pictures. But you can bet yinz azs..... I'll be having a good time.

Tight lines to all and through the ice, do not fall.

yeah I know, that was corny but yinz is just sour grapes cause I thought of it first.

I hate to rain on your figid parade, but good luck with that ice thing.  It was warm enough this morning in Zelie for no coat.  I'm saying late December before you have walkable ice.  Thanks Obama!

Here in Pa. Late December early January is the norm for ice. We have to get better ice than last year. I'll we on a pond 3-4 times a week. I kill all size crappie at Shenango and usually end up with a decent 20- 30 nice keepers 10.inches and up. Moraine yields millions of gills and the to get keepers here you've got to lower your standards and keep fish at 7 inches but not hard to get a pile 7-7.5 fish. I can't consistently get on big crappie there but pre -dawn bite was the ticket last winter, but then again only get 6-10 giants and was over. Two years ago found out where the wipers live in the winter and had a ball on them last year the Ice was not safe to venture too. P.I. always interesting big crappie and sometimes jumbo perch, big pumpkin seeds, occasionally a big steelhead or a big bass. I've gotten away from fishing Pymy, long walks to find hit or miss fish. Then the private lakes yield quality fish, Latonka is very good along with a couple others. There nothing like ice,two buckets of tip ups,two buckets of high end jigging poles, two sleds, three shanties,Jiffy pro 4 propane auger, big buddies heater, two Vex's. We've got plenty of venison to cook on the ice, chili, burgers, backstrap, and sausage. I can't wait.

Loving the replies all, except the buzz killers!!! Getting more excited by the day...thinking I may be getting a new toy with the Dicks 25% off cyber Monday sale (your welcome)! If we can only get through these roller coaster temperatures we are having we will be in good shape! I have been hearing a lot about Deep Creek Maryland...thinking I may give Maryland some money for a Fishing License soon.

Also just a shout out to FishUSA for their great customer service. I took advantage of a Black Friday sale they were having, my wife and I were wanting a hooded sweatshirt from them...they had buy a $75 gift card get a hoodie free, free shipping as well! So knowing we will be using the gift cards I ordered two and got our hoodies...wife didn't know I did this! This was Friday morning. Get home about lunch time Saturday and wouldn't you know there were two boxes on my porch from FishUSA!!!!!!!! This was about 30 hours later! Great job FishUSA and I cant forget great job USPS as well!!

Bsapp don't fret the Mountain Man he means no harm. He is likely discontent over a chipped or broken nail. If you ever have interest in carp fishing MM is the man.

As for FishUSA I couldn't agree with you more. Customer service is top notch along with a great line of products least not forget pricing.

My little piece of Penn's Woods will be 50 degrees today, 60 tomorrow then falling back to the forties for highs the rest of the week.

Ice still reforming overnight on my beaver pond then melting from the warmer daytime temps.

Won't take long for good sustainable ice once the high temperatures reach the 20s and the lows drop into the teens.

    Enjoy your new hoodies.

Our ice season here in SW PA is from mid January to mid February and that's if we're lucky.  Last year I got out on the ice twice and both times the ice wasn't what I would call safe.

The high temps are more important than the lows. The highs need to be in the teens or single digits for at least a week.

Try the army corps of engineers website, or usgs water data pa. I use the usgs site to get water temps for my log book not all sites have a temp reading you will have to experiment.
Right now the water temp in karthaus is 38 degrees.

looks like the usgs is the way to go search temp parameters for streams near you are looking for should give a good idea of lake temp. play around with it and see if it helps.

Yes Sir and if you can trust (yea right) AccuWeather the low temps are said to be in the mid teens and highs of mid thirties.

If that holds, we might be ice skating before we know it.

I'm looking forward to some hard water fishing aaaaand some hard water catching would be fun..... too.
