  Rich,

I went through, not waste deep. Sent my old buddy (R.I.P) home to get my chain saw since my arguer was dull, no one 'round, ice kept break'n tryin' to get out. Good thing I was a little ****t.

Southern lake. The northern was a pain with water so low & the weeds to get to the Perch schools in creek earlier this month.

Back in my small game days I would release ringnecks & when my huntin' buddies would come up I would unload my dehydrated steel too them  They loved it
Headin' north on monday for the week.

The wind & sleet took a toll on me last night wadin'.

man, sweet potatoes rock.  goose sux unless turned into jerky.  steelhead are okay in small quantities if smoked.  i've never had liver of any kind though.  the thought makes my gag...lol.

If you think goose sux, you're cooking it wrong.  Goose in Europe is what turkey is in the US and Canada.   I love liver, especially calves liver.  Deer liver from a young deer is a delicacy in most of Europe.   Of course, tripe is also popular.  I had a great meal of tripe in Germany until I found out what it was.

Well when the fishin' is slow & ain't usein' doughball, can ov corn, chicken liver, crawdads, suckers/fish, grasshoppers, crickets, frogs or bread for bait a boy has to do well u noe. N.Y. sales 'em in restaurants, ain't cheap. Dove breast, or chicken liver wrapped in bacon is tasty.

When I lived in Florida if the fish weren't biting we'd simply eat our bait! Shrimp and mullet! Then stop at  the store and grab some chicken livers on a stick.

I'm not big on goose, but I had a friend bring some in to work and it was almost like eating steak!I would have never believed it . All in the preparation and seasoning .

I only hunt geese about once every five years when someone I know draws a blind and can't get anyone else to go.

But i actually like to eat it. Very simple recipe.

Fillet breast off goose. Dry rub with favorite seasoning -- I typically use hickory rub or a mild Cajun -- and let sit for about an hour at room temperature.

Put the goose in a crockpot and cover with orange juice. Cook on high for one hour, then on low for three more.

Remove the goose to cool and refrigerate the liquid. When the goose has cooled, slice it into pieces like slicing a beef roast. Refrigerate it as well.

The next day, warm the liquid on the stovetop and microwave each portion of the goose for 1.5 minutes to heat it up. Pour the sauce over it and serve with wild rice.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I ate 2 milk bones once , they tasted like some kind of health food. The wife had this annoying acquaintance come over and hang out blabbing about a book they were reading. I wanted to watch a NasCar race and they were interfering with my TV. So I got up and walked over to the dog treats picked up a box and sat back down and started crunching away. She was disturbed by this and left. The best part was they never sat by the TV anymore, and we all lived happily ever after.

when me and my brother were around 10ish years old... we ate all of the dog jerky snacks thinking it was jerky.. we found out later that week when our mom asked if we knew where the bag was.

mmmm,  saute up 2 large onions in butter and serve over floured fried liver and a buttered baked potato!  will send your cholesterol thru the roof but thems some eats.  when I didn't make it at home I'd get it at Elbys and always ordered extra sauteed onions.

Liver is wonderful.... for catching crawdads and leeches.

Just remember to bite the heads off of the crawdads before using as fishbait in waters other than where taken.

If using for human consumption..... eat the tails too.

distribute tags for fish like they do for hunting... so many tags come with your Erie stamp and that is what you can keep for the year.... certainly not a bad idea ... half of them end up with freezer burn and in the trash anyway..
