You answered  your own question, Brother .
There is no flavor of the week
It's more like flavor of the day ...and sometimes flavor of the morning or afternoon....... or even hour

if i told you chartreuse was kickin the hours the creeks became fishable after a blow out, it might not be (and likely won't)  the following  day

Nice thing about flies and yarn...they don't take up a whole of room to have a nice assortment and variety of colors, shapes and sizes.
Take a bunch ..if no action, tie sump'um else on
Change wt, change drift, change shape, color or size...change socks!!! ...just don't keep tossing the same stuff the same way if not getting any action

I haven't fished  regular and  often in years ...so I can't help if there's been a particular   color/pattern  they seem prefer "in general" this season....if that's what you're asking
I know in years past, there was generally a predominant "go to" color I found .
one year I could do no wrong with  pink yarn...the next year..no so great.
it  might of been pearl or  peacock herl or white or cream or....you get the picture

but even in the years I found a predominant color, shape or size....it wasn't necessarily  the best choice on any given day..or time of day

Day in day out.. Single Egg..
Peach Jig..then White..

If you cant catch fish on those, then your technique and tackle come in to play.. Depth and presentation..

these fish are stupid, but smarter than 90% of those fishing for them in Erie...

Clear is my go to lol. Honestly though, pink, orange, and yellow are always go tos. Every color has its day though from green to red and blue to white.
