Who wants to snag with the chartist?  We'll start it right with a trip through McDonald's drive through snagging some breakfast...Then, snag at the church hole, north side of course,  we'll snag a good spot...At lunch, we'll snag a quick bite at the Altmar Hotel with a sumptuous meal washed down with Genny Cream Ale.  Then, back to snagging  the church hole.  We'll close it out with happy hour by snagging dinner at , you guessed it, the Altmar Hotel snagging up  some pot luck.

Where to start ??  Man I miss that place already, how bout there....
Thurs:
roll in about 1pm to campgrounds.. Setting up was cake and thank gosh for A/C !!!  My son family rolled in 1/2 hr behind.. By 3:30 pm we were on the water.. It was FLAT & HOT so first order of biz was to take a swim off the boat.. Granddaughters thought it was COOL to jump off the boat,  I thought it was awesome everyone could experience the fun I have and why ..  So off to a troll, word is was, head north ...  I went to the SR and 120-140 fow.. Like I said , marked most fish of the season.. Had 2 or 3 releases but no sign of shakers and nothing hooked.. Yea we hook em' out there with trebles..  After a 4:30-7pm troll we headed to camp.
Only pic of the day on a flat sea:

Day 2 Friday:
Son couldn't fish and I wasn't into sitting on shore until rest of family arrived about 6pm so off I went on my first EVER solo run on the great lake Ontario ... Admit, I was nervous about the what if's ... Lake was choppy, solid 2-3's then up to 4 footers.. I booked right back to where I seen fish day before and they were gone !!  Trolled around a dead sea from 7:30 am until 1:30 pm..  Running gear solo SUCKS , IMO !!! 3 dipsies and 1 rigger was all I could handle, obviously 3 rods but there are ways of adding more lures .. Not happening that day..
Only pic of the solo run:

Afternoon was pretty sweet at camp.. More family arrived and we swam, ate and partied along the beach..

Thank gosh for A/C in the camper !!!
Day 3 Sat:
Woke up early , son and I went out and headed right back to you know where.. Still a dead sea so we kept going north and getting deeper.. Marked a fish in the right depth 70-ish down, I look back and rod fires.. It was like watching a flag fly on a tip-up.. Woke son up and handed him the rod, some folks call that taboo,, I guess I will too as he lost the fish.. Well back to the grind on what I called a blank screen.. We seen marks WAY up high in 80 fow I thought maybe steelhead but was later told they were MUSKY and have pic's.. Hummmm..
We just couldn't catch a break so headed in..
JUST In Time.. I have a lightning detector on my boat.. It registered 3 times we were out .. When we got back to camp the rains came around 2:30 pm.. It was hot and heavy for awhile but nowhere near some numbers posted around Pulaski, Altmar.. Will say, the bulk was inland..
After a hot shower from the rains we headed to the beach again.. I'm not a saltwater fan so this is just the best freshwater beach in my mind. Swim, surf and amazing sunsets :)

After dinner it was time to head up for the camp band.. Holy cow, those guys could play.. Great tunes and had tons of people up dancing, from Allmans, Michael Jackson, 3 doors down, Green Day, some new country , P-funk (yes P-funk), Santana, Cheap Trick to gosh knows what else, they played a great show well worth the price of admission..
The sleep that night was peaceful to a steady rain..
Day4 sunday:
what else to do on a blow off small craft advisory but wake up late and pack up late.. We rolled out of camp around 1 pm.. Made a trip to secure boat, grab some things and head south east..
Sadly I wont be getting back this weekend but totally high HUGE expiations when I do..  Haven't caught a mature king yet so it's only going higher , right ?

Predictions:
These next reports should be what's to come for the tribs.. Yes it will become combat style on the lake.. I will do my best to play in Rome but I don't like crowds and idiots so mine might be a little off from others..

Last but not least Eric Clapton ROCKS !! , semi close to G*D.. The Windmill guy to his right,, well .. We Wont get fooled again..
Peace & Tuna

If we are lucky, maybe we can catch SLOWHAND live at the Kallet Theatre  in Pulaski?

I saw the river where Clapton caught that gorgeous Atlantic when I was in Iceland this past January.  My daughter and I went to Dalsfoss falls which is on the Vatnsdalsa river.  The rivers throughout the country are breathtakingly beautiful and I would love to fish them one day.

From Mexico bay it is 4 miles in a north ( not north east ) direction before I even drop a line at 80 fow in front of the SR mouth . If launching from the SR , to get to that depth it would be easily 3/4 to 1 mile out , maybe more , I'd have to look at chart plotter .
The depth SLOWLY increases from there .
Without looking at my gps and trails from my fish finder , my guess is 2 , 2 1/2 miles out from mouth to hit 140 fow .
From Mexico point to Oswego point it's 8 miles .
The currents are strong out there once you hit anything over 60 fow .

I watched a video with a camera on the ball in 110 fow . The mats of zebra mussels are incredible as is the water clarity , so were the masses of lake trout .

Lake is 'carpeted' with Salmon- gonna be like it was a couple years back in those banner years.
Sounds good-hope so --- we will see.
Actually hope its bovine field splatter- think about all the bait breeders they have eaten.
If true we will rejoice in a good year and put off crash realities a bit longer.

I don't know if last year was a banner year, but I had my best year on the SR last year.  It was cool standing in the middle of the so-called 100 year run down on the DSR, just above the Joss hole as hundreds of salmon fought to get past me.

(not worth a new thread)
Heard that the new walkway from  town down stream quite a ways past long bridge is now being built.
Have mentioned this on the Forum from time to time after being told about its planning  a few years back by a reliable Pulaski guy.
Ongoing kinda secretive property rights of way and other hints have come up from time to time with some thinking upstream issues were involved -personally  have always felt that this was the real reason.
Has anyone up there seen it yet  ???

I will throw up some useless pics at some point but the adventure was , well an adventure.
We put a ton of miles on the boat. Fished in all out COMBAT , stopped counting at 100 boats, and couldn't take the mess so bailed for deep dead water to swim and try jigging lakers.
Seen fish caught in the combat zones by Oswego and the SR mouth (4 miles out ) and marked piles of inactive staging mudsharks hugging the bottom in 100 fow trying to keep in the cooler water.
We had a blast but that boat combat is worse then the town pool on Columbus day.
I'm gonna pass on this holiday weekend as I can only think it will be 10 X's worse and give it one las go for 6 days straight in 2 weeks then pull the plug on the Great Lake for the season..

Jack,
there were BOXES & BOXES of fish being cleaned at the marina's for those that battled the boats .. We marked LOTS of fish hugging bottom, I hope some make it up to the secret spot ..

When the water cools in  week or so they will run to the "secret spot" and I'll be there playing with them.

From the river - trib reports of salmon this season ,,, guess I was way off ..
It truly was a struggle on the lake all summer . Turned to combat in late August but seems the salmon RAN in late September ...
Humm .. Must be I still suck out there and much to learn yet ...

Seems the fish made the change to non-feeders early but stayed out deep, they were not around the piers around Labor Day, and when they ran many went right from deep water to the falls.  It was not just you most lake guys reported pretty poor September results.

A few captains were out on the lake til early October with their best days being then. Things seemed to really light up on the lake around mid september. With late sept. And early oct. Being the highlight. This is turning out to be an excellent season for all of the tribs.
Tuna, I was stabbing to get you back up with the boat, should've tried harder :D lol

Really makes one wonder if the two bad winters of 14 and 15 played part in the late coming of the run

I think the warm water temps from the hot summer had a lot to do with it.I hope we get a normal weather pattern one of these years.

Who knows, it just seemed odd that spring and summer kings were not really present on the lake, yet we ended up with a wonderful run.

The west end of the Lake was loaded in the spring and summer, they all started complaining around the time the fishing was picking up on the east end.  I definitely think it was that long hot spell with no rain, but now we're running into the late November cold snap.
