Lol , Clint .
I used to set leg traps years ago and it was disastrous on cats and skunks .
Pretty shocked about the weasel box traps not even catching a fox . They can shimmy in there .
As long as the hot wire is working and your chickens are safe , for now , it seems problem solved .

Trev .
I hear you about the Ct and farmingdale rivers .
As I said before , an ADK pond gets 17,000 tiger fingerling = food for the perch.
Off my dock on the little SR, I observed and caught bass, perch , pike and a walleye .. All waiting for those salmonoids to really fatten them up . Years ago I'd fish the SR in the spring and summer , guess what - same species except I never caught a walleye , now I know they are around as well

Bobbob, you didn't ruin my experience, but you did get it all wrong. I don't post on Salmon Time. I look at it occasionally, but it's not my taste. I joined early on, but that was months and months ago. I haven't posted or signed in since last spring. If you want to find my account, ban me!  Drake seems to lurk here, and sent me a PM that I could have brought to the cops, let alone admins. I did neither. I replied in kind, though a little more to the point. He got it wrong, too. It's just my take that a fishing forum can take many paths, I choose to avoid the ones that mimic political campaigns of lies and one-upmanship.  My use of the infantile  z's was in response to Lucky's post. As is easy to do, I though his use of colonoscopy was somehow directed at me. After some careful deciphering I realize he may have been referring to one looming in his future. Mea culpa.   At any case, I could care less about being victimized,  it comes down to use of time. I don't speak any languages, except a  tiny smattering of German and Spanish, and have no ready translation app.   I've been careless about my use of words and so I won't waste any more of anyone's time. I'll gladly buy lunch, net fish, etc...  - old school.  Seeya on the river, or not.  And wouldn't you know I think I posted this in the wrong thread. Fitting end.

Clint we certainly got more than enough rain the past day here in my little piece of Penn's Woods .  Lake levels are coming back up and just yesterday I was sending out wakes big enough to surf on, unfortunately it was running my mower while cutting my front lawn.  I'm tellin ya, I coulda pulled my screaming neighborhood kids around on a replica of a rubber Loch Ness Monster while cutting the grass.  It was either mow while wet or make hay when the ground dried out and besides I think I can go fishing now, if the wife says I can.

Then there is the fog, comes rolling across the fields just at nightfall making everything so super eerie and Halloween spooky, honestly,  I think the scene would make a good horror movie or sumpthin'.

By-the-way, congratulations on nailing your hen house thief, losing all those chickens would really suck.

Just looking at the national weather radar and I see Matthew is making his way through central PA. and drifting East.  I was just wondering, seeing the the weather in upstate NY, if that is a outer band from the hurricane and will it help the criks and streams that are so low right now.  Most likely temporary at best, I suppose.

Looks like Connecticut is gonna get a good soaking for sure with the rest of the north east getting their share of rain too.

BTDT- the front that is working its way from western PA into NY has nothing to do with Matthew.  Matthew is presently just off the South Carolina coast near Myrtle Beach.  All computer models indicate that Matthew will veer off having no impact in my area of the Hudson Valley.  I wish we would get the remnants and a good soaker but it looks like we will have to wait.

Thanks Troutbum it just looks like some of the outer bands last evening were being tossed up toward and into PA. and this morning it appears the storm continues moving to the north.  I see the system moving west to east across the great lakes, unfortunately not likely to do much good for the streams a criks on a long term bases.

If Matthew works it way inland then you might see conditions reminiscent of Hurricane Hugo 1989.  I flew back from Florida the night Hugo was to hit the Carolina's.  We boarded and then waited on the runway for three hours due to problems at La Guardia after the pilot that was high on cocaine put the plane into the drink.  No fun when you are traveling with two infants.
I fished the OZ a few days after Hugo rolled through and needless to say the conditions were treacherous.

From the radar map it looks as though Mathew is beginning to pullback to the coastline and truck north but were it ends up is anybody's  guess.  Weather dudes are still saying the storm will swing ESE as it moves back out into the Atlantic.

Just nice to see the thing dying down and moving out so the people of Florida, Georgia and, the Carolina's can start their recovery and get back to their normal lives.

Well , tomorrow will be a 1/2 day of conference and then we have the rest of the week to explore . Word is there are no sharks in the med sea only little fishes . Think it is safe to grab a mask and snorkel and see what's out there .
The food is very strange to me and getting adapted to the time is a struggle , I'm wide awake at 2-3am but dead tired at 12 pm here .
Our conference next October is in Delhi India , not sure if I can take this world travel stuff enough to go to India

In India they have those cute ****'s called Tigers and another playful critter called a Elephant, they beat big sharks anyday and you don't have to snorkel to play with them.
Have you checked your PM lately?

I was going to sneak into town to fish the Oz tomorrow and the SR on Sunday but got the word early this morning to stay home.  My drift boat guy said the OZ was 11K and going vertical and very muddy.  Oh well I'll just have to wait for steelhead.  Be safe everyone.

Re:Weather thread 2016/10/21 16:12:56 (permalink)
We made it up from the med sea up to Paris today . Went from a small fishing village resort to a 4.5 * Paris grand hotel . Price increased dramatically . The village was very laid back . One could get a heineken and full course meal for less then $20 euro, wine included . Up here it is $10euro just for a beer , no wine and a hamburger is $20 euro.
Oh well, 1 night in Paris is fine enough .
Today we went to the Eiffel Tower , a grand sight indeed but a tourist trap for sure ..
I think we spent more $$ in 1 day in Paris then we did in 6 along the Rivera , including the lodging down there .
While the weather ( aka weather thread ) is quite fine here , 69-70 during the day and 60-50 at night , I'm so looking forward to getting back to the great north east where the climate suites my clothes !!

Personally , from this experience , I would NEVER recommend France as destination for vacation or travel .

I spent some time in France and Paris back in the 60's when I was watching the BIG. BAD Russkies so they would n't over run Europe.Did n't like France or the French and would take the Germans over them any day.

We thought this trip was going to be exclusively based outta Paris and wanted to spend some time in holland and Germany but that wasn't the case .
My daughter is getting married next year and her fiancée was stationed in Germany and really likes the country so that's their plans for honeymoon .
