Jigs and Chuckles thank you and Jigs, I suppose I could just be myself but what fun would that be???

Chuckles I have fun seeing sights like those all the time and  it's nice to hear you appreciate such sights yourself.

Ya outa see these things flying in a group of two or three, over your head.  Even more thrilling, hear these critters talking to each other back in the swamp.  If ya ever saw the "Jurassic Park" movies, hearing these guys will make ya think.

BTDT .... What are these things?  I saw a pair of them last spring, standing out in the middle of a cut off corn field. They looked to be about 4 to 4 1/2 ft. tall.

They are Sand Hill Cranes, a migratory bird, usually taking up refuge in lakes and swampy areas.   They are a very tall bird and their call is almost haunting when heard coming from a fog shrouded swamp.  Not a bird to be messed with:  https://youtu.be/M-NQgobvz40?t=2

Loving the pictures! Nothing better than seeing the next generation of wildlife learning the ropes!
BTDT... great quality on those shots, I think those are from a game camera? Incredible improvement in the clarity and quality in just a few years.

Thank you too Fisherlady and yes the pictures are taken with field cams of which I have two in operation, 24-7.   I have a inexpensive Moultrie that loves snapping pictures anytime a weed sways in the breeze and I have a higher end Bushnell that loves to lose the date/time settings.

Both take quality pictures, given their location and time of day.  The pictures above are from the Bushnell and the pictures below come from the Moultrie.

Thanks for the comparison shots, we use security cameras to watch our chicken coops but I have often thought of adding in a game camera or two for 'candidates shots' type entertainment. Nothing much better than seeing the youngsters curiosity and wonder at the new, big world.
