Walleye

Been a while since I was on this magnificent site!
I would appreciate suggestions for catching the most delicious fish either from shore near Elk Creek mouth or on an inexpensive charter some time next week.

    I  too am interested in a reasonable charter trip for my father and I we both have flexible schedules day or night anyone have any suggestions?
    Does anyone do charters for walleye drift fishing or is it all trolling?

    You can still catch them from shore this time of year, right now is kind of a transition period for evening fishing between Spring Walleye and Summer White Bass & Drum. Certainly a lot less of them around but they're still there. 4-6" jerkbaits (floating rapalas and X-raps), stickbaits (bay rats and reef runners), and 3/4-1 ounce spoons are my best lures for them from shore.

    If you're looking for lots of meat then I'd book a charter. Generally the ones you'll catch offshore are bigger and you'll catch more of them. I release all of the shoreline Walleye I do catch (rarely large quantities) and the majority of ones I catch offshore while fishing Lakers, Steelhead, and Drum, with the the exception of badly injured/tired ones that I'll cook up later that day.

    Ohio side has lots of drift fishing charters. Only one that I know in Pa that drifts is Sea wolf. I'm sure others do, I just don't know any.

    XTWK...Any Ohio guides out of Connie or are they further west?
    We want the MEAT but personally I enjoy feeling them hit and using lighter tackle.Was thinking maybe a combo trolling and drifting.
    Not a richman with a boat and want to see my dad catch a few!

    I think most drift fishing guides are West. That side of the lake is more suited and more productive for that method. Other guides may drift in April and May towards bula and conne and even PA way but it seems by summer most wanna troll offshore for big migratory fish an put up numbers. Im sure right now you could catch eyes swinging and drifting off PA, some people do it on their own with mixed results. Most guides wanna get you on fish and get you lots of fish. By summer off PA the best way to do that in general is troll so that's what they do. Im sure you could call around and talk to some guides in PA and they could get you out drifting.
