Nice mess of fish Mikastorm. Where you were anchored was where we were making our turn to troll back the other way. Had I known that was you, id have given you a shout out. Went by you maybe half a doz. times. No luck for us though. 6 halfway decent perch, 1 crappie, and several bass. Also 1 catfish. We returned them all back to the lake. No walleyes though. Couple of the strikes were probable eyes, but no proof.
BTDT, for the record, 1 doorknob nearly ran us over. I don't think he ever saw us. He was too busy looking the other way. Anyway, it was a good day to be out on the water. I won't lie though, the heater in the truck felt mighty good on the way home after a rain soaking....olds

Happy to hear you made out OK Marco but, if it is wind you were wanting YA should have been on the lake this afternoon.  I'm still rocking and I've been home for an hour.

Olds certainly glad you didn't get run over by a doorknob and had a good day on the lake.

A few anglers had some luck with catching eyes today however, because I was sulking, I didn't care to hear how big or what they were using and where.

My sonar would show several fishy pictures at 28 ft in 30 FOW and I was bouncing jigs in the neighborhood but, I just couldn't hold over the area.............  STUPID WIND!!!!

Oh well, still a better day then sitting around doing nothing.  We'll get em next time.

Was planning on getting out later this week, but after seeing a few successful pics after getting home I decided to get off my azz and give it a shot this afternoon. Nice breeze and some cloud cover made it a little cool, but decent fishing conditions. Ended up with these 2 that are heading for the pan and 2 short ones. Usual mix of small perch and a few cats as well.

Roy reporting in that no doorknobs were spotted at the Pymatuning Lake Assoc. crappie tourney on Saturday. All PLA members were very nice and all tourney anglers with friendly and polite. My jobs were to help put the TV monitor on it holder in the morning (the TV must weigh 80 pounds, heavy for a flat screen) and then I help breakdown the tables after the tourney. Winning weight for 5 fish was 7 pounds 9 and a half ounces, and I the winning heavy fish was 2 pounds 6.9 ounces.
All in all a good day, and I met a bunch of nice people.

Crappie Slayer: There were 107 team that fish the tournament, a few less than last year from what I was told. It seemed to be run very well and the weighing went fast. Seemed to me that most of the teams were fishing north of the causeway, but I don't know that for sure. All but three or four teams came to the weigh in with their boats on trailers.
One participant had a picture of a 38 inch Muskie that she caught on a crappie jig. She was all smiles, not sure if she and her partner finished in the money or not, but they hung around til the winners were announced.

Thanks Roy I'm happy to hear all went well and you enjoyed the day assisting with the crappie tournament.   I'm sure glad to hear everyone was respectful of one and another, I knew if I stayed away, chances would be good there would be no "doorknobs" on the lake.

Ummm, anyway here is a roster of the teams and how they placed as, provided by the association and, posted on Robinson's Bait Facebook page.

From the comments I've read, it wasn't an easy day of catching.  Congratulations to the winners.

I kind of get the drift of what a doorknob is on the lake. What is the origin, or do I really want to know? I know the safety-- Door Knob game, and I didn't need to know that.
All right you must just mean dumber than a door knob, like I am some days.

Made it out fishing this afternoon and I'll be darned if I didn't get lucky and catch some Crappie, Blue Gill and, hooked something that pulled really really hard til it got off the hook.  My sonar started posting fishy pictures at 12 feet in 13 FOW so I rigged a 1/32 and 1/16 oz jig on two rods and began doinking them on the bottom.  There was a least a dozen times I'd pick a rod tip up and would feel the weight of the fish but couldn't get a hook set.  Then if I did hook a fish it was usually followed by a tear, while I watched the fish submerge, as if it just spit the lure out on the surface.

Unfortunately, there was not enough in the live well to invite yinz to a fish fry so I let them all go.

Better days are ahead tighter lines are coming.  Oh.... Did I mention, because of that stupid NW wind, I wasn't fishing Pymie today?

Wanted to say thanks for the entertainment and motivation been following this post for a while.
I still have not traveled to and fished Pymie half because I am afraid I will like it too much and half because of the drive.
Plan on checking it out in June.
Fished the other big lake last 2 nights from shore.
Last night was a mess wind picked up at sunset waves made things sloppy and I was cold and wet due to MANY holes in my waders...did not fish long- no fish.
Tonight I was ready...but 10 pm came nothing hitting, was getting discouraged and then...tap-tap......WHAM!
Got this 30 inch 8lb 9 oz Waldo my biggest from Lake Erie.
No other hits left a lil after midnight...some others around but they did not seem to be doing any good ,wrong wind- too early -too cold -I do not know new to this game.
Found 3 smolts in the belly...starting to understand why the steelies do not return to the creeks!...WCW

Treesparrow: To be honest, this is the only place I've heard a fisherman referred to as a door knob. I think BTDT coined the phrase here. I do not what a door knob fisherman is, but figured I would know one when I saw one. :)

WCW that is a super catch, good job.

Word of caution, fishing Pymie can become addictive.  The lake has a lot to offer from a variety of fish, lots of water, great bottom structure and the best part; is the opportunity to meet, talk to, and fish with some very nice fun loving people.  If you are looking for a place to go fishing ya can't beat Pymatuning, however, if you're looking just to go catching, well good luck with that.  At times the Pymie can sting the most seasoned of anglers.

So with out further ado, come on in, the water is fine!!

Well, when I put in at Linesville this morning I was probably only the fifth or sixth vehicle in the lot.  About forty when I returned in early afternoon.  Light north wind but the sun just wouldn't come out.  Kind of chilly considering it was only around 46 !
Caught about a dozen crappies on the smaller side, no eyes, and re-affirmed that fact that my new Lowrance IS smarter than I am.  I think I'm going back to a beer can tied to a rope.  Won't show me fish, but it will tell me how deep the water is without driving me nuts!

I am fishing this lake with a buddy starting Thursday for 3 days. We are staying at the Ohio campgrounds. We are catch and release fishing for bass and walleye depending on the bite. We are unfamiliar with the lake and would appreciate any info such as should I trailer my boat to the North end for best results of catching both species or fish the south end from the state boat launch? I have an Alumacraft 160 w/20 hp. I'd rather not spend my time going from one end of the lake to the other. We just want to catch fish and have some fun. Is drifting crawlers/minnows or trolling hot n tots the only way to catch walleye here? What is  the water temp now?

Thanks!

Beer can tied to a rope, hmmmm, I seem to recall that hi-tech device being in my boat and it worked very well.  Knots were tied every two feet in the rope, dropped over the side to determine depth or hung over the bow at a certain depth to follow contours.  The luxury models could locate brush piles and other under water structure.

The only real draw back was not being able to use the device at high speeds which didn't matter anyway, cause I never could get that dam row boat, up on plane.

Weather looking good for tomorrow Ops, get out there and get em.

All fish caught on ohio sine north of causeway.jig and piece of crawler. Fished lines Monday and Tuesday no luck up there at all. Ok this might be a dumb question but here goes .... Are you allowed to use 3 poles at Pymatuning ? I have always used 2 poles never ever gave it a thought because fishing in Canada you are only allowed one pole. I was just reading stuff on the pa fish commission website were it says you are allowed no more then 3 poles ( Max) ...guess I need to get more educated on this stuff .... Lol

Have any of you guys noticed that the fishing has sped up like crazy. Lets discuss best baits to use, best spots and time of day to fish. I have found that the best bait to catch the lunkers on is either a stike king 1/2 ounce jig in black and blue with the Berkeley havoc craw on the back, or a z man turbo craw in white. Tell me what you think!!!!
During the pre-spawn I was mainly catching all my smallies and largies on rapla x-rap jerkbaits. Best spot to fish now are the beds.

Also check out my youtube channel, like comment, and subscribe for more bass vids!! I am trying to get popular on YouTube.

My daughter caught 7 decent bluegills under our dock on Saturday evening, and my wife caught three. They fished for about 90 minutes or so. About 7 of the bluegills were what I would call eating size, though probably considered small by others. Didn't have a tape measure. they caught all of them on redworms from Wally World. Next trip I am going to break out my new green blob fishing light to see if it attracts anything.

Attachments are not available: Download requirements not met I caught a 6 lb walleye on a chatterbait, Friday, while fishing for bass. I also caught several LM bass, two over 15".Only caught 1 16" walleye while drifting along with some catfish. Very new to this lake, as I live in Harrisburg, PA, so I don't know the specific areas to target them. I avoided the armada of fishing boats in the north end on Saturday.
This was caught in less than 2 feet of water. I was shocked beyond belief. I met a buddy of mine from Canton so this lake was convenient for each of our licenses and we enjoy fishing for both species.
