Rich.....that's fantastic! How much do those last two weigh? Do you eat those or do you feed the County with them  That is a lot of fish meat!

Funny . They are cows . The 41 weighed only 28 and the smaller was heavier but not a legal keep due to slot .
I don't like the slot . We had to release some gut hooked heavily bleeding fish even though, circle hooks and cutting line quickly. It's gonna happen using 12" bait getting sucked into vacuum feeding fish .
There needs to be a better permit system, like X amount of tags , stamps or punch cards per season.
If they are punched and done so is your rod . I would have kept a 29 and a 33" instead of letting a dead fish "swim" away , rather then keep a healthy 41" lip hooked fish .

2 bites tonight, river got a bit dirty.

HT, there's always an interest in what's going on in other parts of the forums, post those pictures, inquiring minds want to know?

By the way, congratulations on the catching which is something, I can't seem to master but I sure do, enjoy trying.

Enjoyed your recent pictures.

Finally found some trout today. Was starting to think crazy thoughts. A couple of weeks ago I got sent to GA for the week brought the fly rod and got into some rainbows and Browns on the Chattahoochie ( I'm sure that's spelt wrong) till today I actually caught more trout there than here in NY

The weather turned sour today and so has the upper mighty Hudson.
Striper season 2016 has come to a close for me . We haven't caught a fish or even a bite since Wednesday evening. The boat is home , washed and de funked.
To me it was a great season, many fish came aboard, much more got away. Sure hope to be able to do this all again next spring.

For anyone that watches tv , I generally don't but the wife bought this thing call a fire stick. It's pretty cheap and works off an Internet connection to your tv.
I have been watching some great steelhead fishing shows for hours. I guess it may just motivate me again. Well , ,,
We will see what the Great Lake holds

Glad to hear you had a great Striper season Tuna and speaking of the weather, the sun is shining on the west side of my house and it's snowing on the east side.

Funny you mentioned the "Fire Stick" , I'm just sitting here at home reliving my past and seeing what passed me by.   Playing old Fleetwood Mac vids from YouTube to the TV via a device called "Chrome Cast".  Use the device all the time watching old flicks from HBO, Direct TV. plus, many of the other providers found on the internet.

Spit a little snow here too. It's windy, windy ,windy too. I got the garden plowed and disc yesterday. Found a baby calf I thought for sure was gone. Did not see it for two days , momma hid it good. Going to get my chicken coop from the Amish this week and get my chickens out of the garage.......

Finally going to get nice. Going to hit Oneida Saturday. On a good not I found the calf that had been missing for three days.  Momma had a GOOD hiding spot.

Just a heads up ,
The Olcott pro/am tournament on the lake produced a LOT of very large salmon and salmon of all size last weekend.
The east end of the lake is still struggling . Lakers are the main boxes .

The weather was nice so I gave stripers a last shot sat & sun and came up empty.
Time to move on . I did finally get my garden planted:)

Re:Weather thread 2016/05/24 08:47:21 (permalink)
Howdy howdy fellow bloggers, all's well here in my little piece of Penn's Woods with a beautiful "Bluebird" morning sky.  I haven't much to tell regarding fishing except my catching still sucks but, whose complaining?

Got around to (and I have no idea why) opening the swimming pool.  I have one of those "premium" (good for ten years) pool covers I bought three years ago that now looks like cheese cloth laying on the ground, drying.

Naturally there was water laying on the cover which required some siphoning that went well but unfortunately, took about 2000 gallons of pool water too. That in turn lead to the water level being too low to spill into the skimmer box requiring additional water to be added from my water well.

Not a problem though, my well can handle the situation (knock on wood) but as luck would have it, my coffee this morning taste like I'm drinking it through a rusty steel straw.

Hopefully the fresh water will assist in clearing the green water which now inhabits my pool and after the injection of algaecides and chlorination followed by 3 to 5 days of filtering along with; additional well water do to filter back-washing, I shall be able to sit beside my green swimming pool enjoying the flavor of rusty coffee.

Time to go fishing I think and remissness about the days when I couldn't wait, to retire.

Tight lines and good times to all.

Right you are Lucky but I can use the pool, to practice with my new fishing lures before heading out in the boat and it also, saves time with bathing the dogs.

Had an 18x36 in ground for many years- Glad to have sold it along with my home 2 years back.
Had the holes and siphoning issues forever-it seems.
Try some dropout for help clearing the pool  good luck --lol.
Then- of course- the ph will be off as well as the need for more stabilizer since ya had to add so much water. ARUGGGHH -the memories.
There were good times but as the family got older and moved off it never got the use it deserved at the end few years- just the work.

Lol , pools and boats . Both have been part of my life as long as I recall.
We have a 18x36 also . Personally I prefer a lake to swim and a boat to fish but the wife insist on the pool and grandkids like it too .
Went threw many covers from expensive that only last a few years to the tarp style I buy now at job lot and last just as long ( 3-4 seasons) .
Mine still has the cover on and I'm getting bugged to take it off , ugh ..
It's usually clear water when that happens but attention is required immediately or it goes south quick. I'd like to fill mine in :)

Well, the nice light rain did my garden well . It however is making my grass grow , yuck !! Mowing is my least favorite summer chore ..
Enjoy the upcoming holiday and hope you all well .

Nice fishing Charlie and thanks for sharing, seems the weather was better out there then on the mighty Hudson
