10-4 on "slamming the walleye" HT, that's gotta smart sitting at the house and hearing that.  Heck, that's darned near enough to have me grabbin' gears, hammer down northeast bound.  But, Dime scared me with the memories of 2007, I remember trailer-trucking I-90 and I-95 getting caught in some of those snow storms........  I'll pass and wait for more ice to melt.

Only need about 100 yards from where I took the picture and the launch will be ice free then I'll do some fishing from my boater moat.

Hope you can join your brother-in-law and catch some biggins, we'll be waiting for some of your great pictures.

Tight lines.

Although the low temps of this upcoming front are lower than they've been predicting, it is now already backed down to only 7 days below the freezing mark for high temps starting wednesday. Above average temps the next few days once again... 40'so tomorrow!!!

well the size was not there , but the numbers were. Constant flags all day and a bunch jigging too. Ice was not bad 4-6 inches and the shore was pretty much firmed up. Worse part of the day was I forgot my spikes so walking was an adventure. It's a good day when you put you last fathead on and the sun is setting

Rumor has it the Broncos deflated the footballs and re-inflated them with 'Krytonite' gas.   OK.....  OK, it was funny at the time!!

I thought for sure she would butcher our National Anthem, except for the part she forgot the music to, Lady Gagya did well.

Time to hunker down, bundle up and, wait for the coming cold snap to pass.  The forty degree temperatures forecast next week will feel really great after highs in the low teens.   Which will of course, melt the snow and bring on yet, another round of lovely mud!

May change after cold front up north next week .. - 15 expected on my Laker lake sat , yes NEGATIVE fifteen sat night !!
Then temps rise and snow expected 5-8" , yuck !! Tough drag on the lakes for a week of vacation

Calling for anywhere between 12 and 24 by Saturday and temps at 10 below. I may nix the ice this weekend as I don't like the high of 5 degrees

Went out and plowed, then snowblowed. By the time I got done snowblowing I had to take a few more swipes at the drive. 2 inches an hour I would say. At least 16  or so on the ground and more coming. Nice light and fluffy though. The ride in should be fun..........

Re:Weather thread 2016/02/11 08:03:45 (permalink)
Here in my little section of the Pennsylvania Wilds we got our fair share of a 6" dusting.  Weather dude on "TheWeatherCircus" web says we should be pretty much done with the snow event for my area.

We started out with the fine wetter snow Tuesday evening then the Snow Fairy changed everything over to lighter fluffy stuff about 5:30 AM Wednesday that continued, off and on through the day, into the night.

Cleared the sidewalks and deck several times during the course of the day but, stayed away from the drive and paths to the bird feeders until around 6:30 PM and that's when I found, my trusty WheelHorse with it's snow (azz kicking) blower, had a dead battery.  Not a problem, hooked-up the battery charger and went to plan "IH" even though the plow, for the 'ole girl', is not attached it took little time with her 30" wide turf tires to 'mash down' the fluffy snow covering 300' of driveway.  Now that's ingenuity;  I don't care who you are.

Time to release "The Hounds of BTDT" , their letting me know it's time for breakfast then I'll see if the trusty WheelHorse will turn over this morning.  If not, it's off to buy a new battery so I can clean up what snow fell through the night.

Not that I care about the fluffy stuff, it will be gone this time next week but, I just received notice of new items for the Fish Hawk being delivered this afternoon so you can bet, I'm making sure the UPS dude can make it up the driveway.

Take care, stay warm, drive defensively and, think spring.

PS.  Anybody seen a groundhog, calls himself Phil?

Well I guess the official total was 37  inches and it was all of that. Snowiest place in the US for the past 24 hours. All is cleaned up and we are now waiting for the next round to hit or miss..............
No fishing for me this weekend. -25 windshields equals no thanks. Will sit inside by the stove and stay warm.

Re:Weather thread 2016/02/12 10:00:40 (permalink)
Clint would ya care to join me and several (hundred thousand) people on a groundhog hunt?

Got my driveway all cleaned out yesterday so the UPS dude could get up to the house and bring me my new boat toys.

Sat in my chair, anxiously awaiting his arrival when out on the road there arose such a clatter; a Buster Brown truck with chains so it wouldn't get stuck ()  I sprang from my chair and ran toward the door, tripped over the cat and slid across the floor,  the driver was lively  and all so quick, he spoke not a word but went straight to his work, handing me a package and down the driveway he goes.

Away into the house I flew like a flash, tore open the package and I began to laugh, as what to my excited eyes did appear............ candles, ordered by the better half who is such a dear.

Not to worry, the toys are on the way and according to sources, today is the day!!

I gotta go now, time for my therapy.

Tight lines and stay warm.

Re:Weather thread 2016/02/13 08:05:43 (permalink)
Ya know, when it's snowing as is right now with the temperature hovering at 6 degrees and ya go outside, if ya take a minute to relax and try to enjoy the weather, it really is lovely and relaxing.

I had just stepped through the back door as day was breaking this morning, a few Wrens were eating the sunflower seeds in the feeders.  I watched as the sun continued to raise lighting the horizon when a Cardinal joined the Wrens, then another and another, what beautiful birds males and females alike.

I was enjoying the falling snow and thinking how wonderful it is having four seasons when the fresh 'shin deep' coating of snow once again covering my recently shoveled sidewalk, porch, driveway and, along with my now frozen nostril hairs, brought me back to reality.

But there, for a moment, the beauty of winter had me nearly bursting into song.  However, there is but one song I truly know the lyrics to and I didn't think "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" would be appropriate.

Funny, even though they have not been outside since last night and it is their feeding time, the hounds are being very quiet and refusing to leave their pens in the basement.  What's up with that?

I must be going now as I have an early appointment that I shan't miss,  it's not easy to schedule therapy sessions.

Keep warm and stay off the highways, if ya can.

PS.  For those whose snow fall far exceeds a 'shin deep' coating.............   it sucks to be you!!

I have fished the SR. In -5 and ice fished for lakers in -22, actual temps . BTDT
-5 in a heated shanty is doable without wind . Below zero in the water , nah
Tonight I'm happy to sit inside with fire going in sub zero watching the Daytona speed weeks on tv
Gonna be on the ice all next week .
Stay safe folks
