putting it all on the line!

Well with 21 years working for the state at the ripe old age of 44 I went into work today and retired! For the last 3 years I have worked for a real dbag after my boss of 18 years retired, not being able to hold on any longer I left. So Saturday the wife and I bought a restaurant/bar and im excited but also a bit scared. Of course it isint as cut and dry as that us not being millionaires there is lots of paperwork and licenses and permits and lawyers and so on and so on! Alls I can say is thank god for deferred comp cause that is whats gonna fund this whole venture, and I have no room for failure as that was my retirement. Keep your fingers crossed for me and if I don't stroke out before I get to open for the first night Ill be thankful!

Good luck man. Hard work to own an establishment, but at least you will be working for a boss you like. Going to work at a job you hate or someone who makes you hate it is a good recipe an unhappy life.

Congrats on your retirement and best wishes for your new venture.  I used to cook in my friends restaurant and later had my own catering business.  I have to come up and do a cameo in the kitchen.  LOL

Well have been open for two hugely successful but extremely stressful weeks! Have lost 20 pounds in that time and find myself awake most of the night thinking of things that must be done the next day. There were bands booked both Saturdays of our first two weeks and 4 large prime rib parties before this past Saturdays show with a band call Gallows road talk about stress. The previous owner has stayed on and kinda groomed me in the way of the business, this stuff doesn't happen in the real world and I for sure appreciate it. Got an solo acoustic show this Saturday with prime rib and then a small break. From what I hear on the dsr site the rivers on fire! Hope you guys that can get out are catching some of that chrome! Peace out;) 3man

Busy beats not busy every day of the week in business!  Glad to hear it's working out so far, you'll get a routine and then get out to fish.
