Eppy I hope this info will help you figure out what motor you are dealing with.  I'll stand corrected but OMC made, at one time, outboards specifically for Bass Pro Shop's Tracker series boats thus, Evinrude Tracker.

If the motor is by chance one that was "oil injected" I'd be very cautious with using that system.  If in fact the oil system still functions, you are very lucky.

    Here is the link: http://www.theoutboardwizard.com/evinrude_model_number.html

Evinrude/Johnson outboards were made by OMC and are now mfg. by Bombardier Inc. of Canada.

Happy to hear the link worked out for ya.  Just keep in mind, OMC went belly-up just when their oil-injection systems failed on thousands of Evinrude Outboards.  I don't know a thing about the motors since Bombardier took over.

Eppy, Google "The demise of Outboard Marine Corporation." and you should find several articles relating to your question.  Also, find a past Evinrude/Johnson dealer and ask them what happened.

A word of caution, you might want to be ready to 'duck' if the dealer's smile turns to a frown(lol).  Many of the dealers took a royal screwing over warranties etc.

I was a once proud owner of a 65 horse jet drive which was actually a 90 horse power head that failed.  I was initially told by the dealer, I was running bad gas.  I immediately went to the dealer and left with my motor in boxes and took it to a dealer in another town where I was told, the oil injection pumps had been failing.  Somehow, the motor alarm could not identify the lack of oil injection and wouldn't activate.  OMC did contribute to the failed oil injection system but would not cover the cost of rebuilding the engine.  Naturally I told the dealer to screw the oil system and put the cost toward the rebuild.

Guess I was lucky, only one cylinder slightly scored so my contribution of $1200.00 put me back on the water long enough to trade the boat and motor never to have done business with the original since.

Oh, the dealer that said I was running bad gas, once word got out about that, started stories OMC was going to 'give me' a refurbished powerhead and the dealer would throw in the labor.

Thanks again. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.  Never knew that OMC went belly up. Been messing with boat since I was a kid. Had all sizes from 10ft Hydro to 55ft house boat I myself was 1 who would always pick a omc over a Merc all though I run a Merc now.
Does Bombardier still call them O.M.C.?   WILL have to get on their web site and see what they have. Again Thanks Eppy

Some info on OMC; note the disclaimer on information accuracy.

Bombardier won by bid, the right to manufacturer boat motors under the name(s) Johnson and Evinrude.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Inc.

I bought my current boat in 2003 and the dealer carried Yamaha at the time.  I wouldn't say no to a Mercury if I were to buy new again but like any motor, I'd want to see reviews from people who have owned one.

    Enjoyed the conversation.

I never ran a Honda although I have a few friends (I think) who do run Honda's that swear by the motors.

I have fished from their boats and will say the motors were impressive.

Speaking of impressive, I saw you at Pymie a few times last fall Chauncy and that 20 horseof yours does a good job pushing your boat.
