Anybody Getting Ready For Ice Fishing ?

Hi Ice Fishing addicts,

I know it's kind of early to talk about ice fishing, but I just opened my own little online store specializing in ice fishing electronics and I am curious about what you guys prefer to use for your ice fishing. Do you prefer flashers, or LCD type sonars? How about ice fishing cameras? Are handhelds worthwhile buying? And why?
This would help me a lot to guide my customers in their choice.

Thanks

Best advice i can give you is to go to www.iceshanty.com and take a real good look at their electronics page and go from there. Excellent reports on the good and bad about almost all the units being used on the ice. Asking here will only bring biased opinions as everybody thinks what they have is better than what anybody else has. Get all the facts and you'll come out just fine.

Thanks for the suggestion Chauncy. Their electronics page is great.

Man, there are a lot of people into ice fishing !

May I ask what your personal preference is? Do you use any underwater ice fishing cameras?

You could start a new trend there. Maybe we could get the regulations changed to allow 5 tip ups any time of the year. I can see it now, working 5 tip ups out of my boat while hovering over a school of perch or crappie. Fun!

You just gave me a great idea for a new line of accessories.  I'll have to get busy in production cause I know the demand will be high for the new product.  A 6' piece of 20 lb mono with a snap swivel tied to each end thus allowing a person to hook all five tip-ups together and tow [in a configuration of ones choice] behind the boat.

Price: Package of three**; $3.95 + handling and shipping of $13.95.  Tax not included.
What a wonderful idea, thanks JRSR

**  Four lines are required for 5 tip-ups.

Hahahaha BTDT. You beat me to making the floating tipup idea work. Actually thought about doing that the last time I was on Pymy for chits and giggles.  I have however used my jigging rods exclusively the last 2 times out in the boat.  Managed a few pannies pounding the bottom with spoons.

I don't always ice fish from a boat, but when I do I catch fish.  LOL

Can't wait for the cold to set in.

Hey icereaper welcome to some crazy good times here on the Forums.

They call me BTDT, when they ain't mad at me and I lay claim to being the "The jack of all trades, Master of none" a/k/a "class clown".

If in the future you would like to enjoy some good conversation it will be solely your responsibility to determine if, I have any idea of what I'm ratchet jawing about.

So enough about me (for now)........   jump on in and introduce yourself.

PS.  No reports of any safe ice that I have heard about but, I'm all ears.
PSS. No remarks from the peanut gallery if you please...... Walcat.

8 or so inches of snow around Conneaut lake yesterday/last night.  Haven't been out by pymy since Friday, but if there is ice on the lake its buried in snow now.  Gonna try to take a drive out Thursday or Friday anyway to check it out.

Sure would be nice I know many anxiously await safe ice including my wife who says, I shall be the recipient of bodily harm if I soon don't get out from under her feet.

Count me in for a night on the ice as soon as the ice is right, my auger and gear are packed on the sled so all I need do is, stop at my local Amish second hand grocery store and grab me some of my favorite baloney and cheese lunchable thingy's.

But heck, even if the ice doesn't get to be safe, spring is just around the corner.

PS.  If you find a huge tailgate party (lasting for weeks) taking place at Pymie beginning this weekend (ice or not), you will know I hit the Power Ball.

PSS. Otherwise I'll be the guy on the ice eating those lunchable thingy's so come on over and introduce yourself.
