I think it's time to stay off FishErie and Face Book for a month or 2.  I'm to the point where I want to strangle everybody.  "when's the first good run of fish?"

Sharknado instead of steelhead this year !!!!!

Wrong forecast, its Gobynado up north. Sharknado is happening down near South Carolina from recent floods.

Showing rain most of the week, how are the crowds on walnut during the week? I like the creek but hate the crowds. Rather do a mile creek if the crowds are still nuts.

Not much better than the weekends until after Thanksgiving on Walnut. Mile creeks sometimes have a little more breathing room on weekdays, but sometimes not much.

The real difference comes after a few good mid-late October through early November rains and fish get spread out on bigger tribs. Relieves some of the pressure if you like to fish down low and gives you more options to walk away from crowds upstream.

November and December are my favorite times to fish. Not because I enjoy the cold and snow and think that's "real" steelhead fishing, but because by then you can usually find good numbers of fish away from the crowds.

Showing more rain than that on weather.com, 50% chance of showers or more from Tuesday till Saturday.

Thanks rsquared, I will probably drive past and at least see if there is enough room to squeeze in or not, and if not, I will head over to the mile creeks. I agree though, I much rather go up during the winter, but I got a day off and my buddy is free, so we figured why not. Wasn't able to come last year, big snow storm the day we were supposed to go so I have had the itch for a while.

Yep, definitely go when you can.

I'm heading up tomorrow morning with my buddy and our sons because the boys have a day off of school.  Certainly not expecting ideal conditions with crowds or creek levels with a beautiful Columbus Day forecast, but we've made a go of it before when it's like this and usually manage to fool a few slimers.  And when we don't we still eat at Theresa's Deli, laugh a lot and make some memories with our boys and we'll head to the bay and fish for other stuff if we have to.  Just like anything you do in life and anywhere you go: there's always a few knuckleheads that can irritate you if you let them, or you can just move on and make the most of it.

I have never fished early enough to deal with leaves, should be fun. Heavier flies to get through the leaves? Assuming the water isn't crystal clear and I can use something larger.

Won't be any fish to run with all the trollers out there having haydays. Me being one of them. It is better than fishing the wall of anglers at the mouths. And I am catching fish.
Charters are reporting 40 fish days.
