salmon

Although its been hot the evenings have been cool. Currently 56 right now. Salmon are sparsely throughout the river. Anyone heading up for the weekend should not count out the mid-upper river.

What Andy is saying you may have a better chance hooking on to a kayak then a salmon. Good luck if anyone gives it a try. I'll keep chasing them on the Hudson for a couple of more weeks.

I don't think Andy is off the mark . Yes there are some fish in the river . As I have said in the past , Labor Day releases have brought me some very good days but also on the flip side some blanks for salmon but usually good pike & bass fishing in the estuary .
My advise is to enjoy the area as a great place to spend the waning days of summer and take a rod along with very low expectations if you looking for salmon but also learn some new areas and holding places before the circus comes to town.
Enjoy the weekend for those who can get out to play .

I expect smackdowns. I also expect you to be first on the board for the year 3 man.
We decided to not go to the coast for the first part of our vacation and I just reserved the 28-30th at Selkirk, so you can have a net man for a few more days, Jack. I may stay the 28th right through to the 7th. We'll see. This guarantees the run will suck and the weather will be awful. Sorry, guys.

Soooooooooo.  The fish gods still are angry at me for some reason, not sure why but they boned me again this morning. We were all early to bed in anticipation of a fun day together on the water and early to rise and ready to have fun but, about ten miles into our journey me in the wifes new truck towing the drift boat and her in my tahoe with kid on ipad following I noticed debris flying out of driver side trailer tire. I pulled over to find grease all over side of boat and the tire about to fall off! Wife is yelling out the window "whats wrong I noticed your wheel start to wobble a mile back" I tell her bearings are gone don't know why had plenty of grease in them as you can see, we will be lucky to make it home without tire falling off on side of road. Well needless to say made it to house and pulled boat around back to find stuff smoking and hot no bearings left in hub at all and tire hanging on by a thread. After 1 trip to tsc and another to advantage auto and 60 bucks later a lot of swearing and two beers shes back together and with my very poor wrenching skills and extremely bad temper with this stuff the wheel actually turns! Sadly there will be no fishing for me wife said maybe try tomorrow Im scared of what else could happen....probably drown! Id love to hook up with Tuna on the mae but with my streak of bad luck we would probably hit an iceburg and sink!

Sucks man, I had a bearing buddy come off on a dirt road 300 miles from home in the middle of nowhere. I always keep a set of bearings and a cap luckily.  bearing got so hot the inner race was all that was left and it had to be cut off with a hacksaw.  you have paid your dues and the fish gods will smile

3 man safe and sound is the key phrase here buddy... You've got your turn coming buddy. I am the same when it comes to malfunctioning equipment, and a cold one or two is usually a necessity :)
