Get there at 5am and fish till 7am. U might see one or two. No flow and yes too soon. I'm sure u can get em at the lakefront.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

My sources confirm that there are some fish making false runs, gone by the time the sun comes up, and some steelies and browns bein caught on the lakeshore.. Just need some rain and some cooler nights, and things will be in swing. Already tying dozens and dozens of flies in anticipation

Now then, ya know it's steelhead season when:
- You can recite the 15 day extended forecast for Erie verbatim
- (If yer an outta towner) You check the Erie forecast more than you check it for your hometown
- The USGS walnut gauge and/ or Uncle Johns website is your most visited website, with at least twice as many views as anything else.

Couple more single eggs to tie and I'm done! Just waiting on the yarn to come in the mail to finish them off.

Thanks - Its a BIC Pen I took apart and then use 20lb mono with a loose knot. Works like a charm.

Maybe I'll throw the gopro on and make a vid for the fly tying section.

Good deal. Do you think you get rounder, better looking glo bugs using that than you would tying them the conventional way?

Never tried it the conventional way - Seen this way and stuck with it. I do think you end up saving a lot of material and I think its quicker.

Those flies look great!  Do the white eggs work well?  Never tried that color, but I was at Cabelas today and saw white GloBug UV yarn and it got my mind thinking.
Thanksgiving can't come soon enough for this outta towner (and yes, I check the Erie weather, flows and this site RELIGIOUSLY before, during and after my annual trip!!!

I live with fear every day, and sometimes she lets me go fishing.

Thanks!  Nice video too.  I haven't seen the use of a lighter before.  Eggs over easy?
Is that used to clean up any stray fuzzies on the eggs?

Thanks! You gotta cook them a little to set, hah!
You got it tho, any strands melt off and makes it a little smoother/rounder. Just don't do it for too long or else is will harden the outer edges. I tried this and they don't have the right color in the water. I think you end up saving so much more yarn doing it this way. Yarns cheap, but it adds up after a while.
