Never done myself but don't see why it couldn't done. On a lake I imagine a casting bobber or slip float would help?

i use flies on my spinning gear all the time and still catch a lot of fish. sometimes all you need is a small split shot in creeks. for longer casts a small bobbin will work for extra weight.

use a float. weight it correctly, and you are good to go. Center pinners use flies under floats all the time.I was fishing in the spring with olive wolly buggers under a float and smashing steelhead. 3.7 gm float in 2.5 ft of moving water was the ticket.

One of my favorite days past couple years me and my best friend were in the falls hole in the dark and had countless hookups on buggers on spin gear . I just use two tiny splits bout a foot up the line
