Reel repair parts

I'll spare you the story, but I'm in need of a reel handle for my nearly new okuma trio abf-55. I called my local "okuma dealer" , tackle unlimited over a year ago now and ordered one. Still haven't got it. Called them every few months and they dont seem too concerned that it hasn't shown up. Anybody know somewhere that can actually get me reel parts? Okuma specifically. I poked around online and on ebay a bit and haven't come up worth anything.

Don't you love those reels?  We have 5 of the step down model (cheap and awesome plus spare spool!) and two of the step up (coronado).  Didn't see that one or I might have tried it in a 30.  I'd love to find spare spools for the coronados but hell if I can find parts.  And all I do is use the internet.  If they are out there for sale I'm usually able to track them down.

Might look for a reel repair shop that works on Okuma.  If you luck out and they stock the part you need you might score.  Western PA isn't a hotbed of reel repair, but you never know.  I'll poke around and let you know if I find anything.

Here's something to try if you can find the part number:

    http://op1.triadinet.com/...lass.asp&args=dept|P   (parts catalog from above)

This place has handles for the ABF-30, 50 and 65.  Didn't see 55 though:  http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/

Ummmmm.........  Does Fish/USA, by chance, have a 'reel' repair service?
    http://www.fishusa.com/Rod-Reel-Repair

If not Bass Pro Shop (that hurt) might carry repair parts for your brand of reel.

I ordered the part from tackle unlimited over a year ago and they never got it in for me. Took my debit card info though. .. fishUSA website has no listing for okuma reel parts. And that Mikes site didn't have what I need. I'll look through the fishing reel parts site when I get a minute. Thanks.

Tackle Unlimited seems to be like that. That place is hit n miss with service.

I looked online and didn't see anything. I got 3 of those reels so I hope I don't run into the same issue. Have you attempted to contact Okuma directly via email?

You couldn't have broken your reel a week ago?  That would have saved me $25.

I have two of the bottom ones.  One is spooled with power pro and is my primary catfish reel.  Love the reel, love the baitrunner.  The new one has 12lb mono on it, going to break it in tonight.  I stuck it on a 7' MH inshore ugly stick.  Heck of a rod for $50.  Should make a killer combo for the fishing we do.

Fishingreelparts.Com does not deal with okuma. Back to the drawing board. Gonna try contacting okuma directly.

I called tackle unlimited one last time. The guy that answered put another gentleman on the phone who says he is calling okuma right now. We'll see how that goes. He said okuma is not very good with their parts orders.

Rite?!  But that coronado is sexy as heck and it caught me my first ever Arthur keeper walleye tonight, so I'm okay with it.

I called them back at 430 yesterday. They guy I spoke to (owner or manager I'm assuming) said okuma had the handle in stock and they should receive it be the end of next week. Wondering who dropped the ball on this. .. me, them, or okuma. ..

For sure. I was able to put a handle on it from another reel to use in the mean time. It was just too short and not the right color. At close to $100 is the second most expensive reel I own next to one of my fly reels and i just wanted it in proper working order.

Now that's some customer service. You could have walked to China to get it in less time.

I'm going to get all Louis CK on you for a minute for that comment.  Don't take this personally, as I agree that the "customer service" he received was absurd.  That said...

Not a single person on this board has the tiniest idea what it would take to actually GO TO China to get their part.  The fact that we get items made on the literal other side of this immense planet in days is AMAZING.  Let's say you can have any land vehicle you choose, and any boat you choose.  You can even have maps and electronics and whatever.  You just can't have anyone else help you get from here to China.  No planes, unless you actually can fly one.  And heck even then good luck with that.  Can you imagine the staggering effort it would take you, the life's journey it would entail to get yourself to China to buy something?  Forget getting home again.  You'd just stay.  "This isn't so bad" you'd think, settling down in some farm somewhere so far from here that the critters are hardly the same.

For some reason that though really amuses me.  If every person on here were offered the money and items they wanted and paid time to do it, I bet 1 in 100 of us would be able to get to China.  You'd hit Cuba and be like "****, this was FAR!  Look at all these Chinese people!"  :D
