And soap is a common bait round the world for catfish. Not trout, but honestly, it would probably work. They do say they crush that Velveeta cheese. I've never tried it though.

I'm a fly guy, but I know lots of folks that used things such as Velveeta cheese (with a little cotton from a cotton ball to keep it on the hook), peas, corn, liver, etc. for stocked trout.

Old family recipe uses cheese in dough balls we made for catching red horse, carp, catfish and, trout.

Never heard peas or liver for stocked trout. then again, those mutants are likely to take a swipe at just about anything at times.

I've caught trout with just a plain whiney gold colored hooks why waste good cheese on swimming fish sticks?
