Smallmouth

I usually make a trip up every year for smallmouth on elk creek the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. I'm starting to wonder if there are more densely populated waters to fish. We always do good and catch fish but the fish are very spread out. Can anyone point me in a different direction? We wade fish and do not have access to a boat. We usually stay above RT 5 and fish to the legion.

    You'll catch a lot more fish if go to the pier at the outlet on Presque Isle.

    The per at Presque isle would be waaaaay downstream of rt 5.

    They are refering to the piersvalong the chanel that seperates erie bay from the lake.

    South Pier is less than a mile from Rt 5, no wading there though.  North Pier is on the Peninsula past Beach 11 and the Coast Guard Station.

    I caught 8 in 2 hrs at the access area, and the guys at the mouth did much better. All mine came on roostertails.
