Parking at Big Sewickley

Hi All, I'm trying to scout out a place to take my 2 boys for their first, first day and thought I'd run up there (I live by Bridgeville).  I've never been up there.  Do you have any recommendations on a place to park that would be kind to a 6 and 8 year old?

Thanks!
Eric

Plum Street park in Ambridge/Leet.  You can find it on Mapquest.  Good Luck to you and the kids!

You want to go out as far as Hoenig Rd. at least. The North Branch runs next to Hoenig and the main branch joins it right where you turn left on Hoenig off Big Sewickley Creek Rd. There's no problem finding a place to park on the main branch, a little tougher on the north. If you go about one mile past Hoenig Rd., right past the fire hall, on the right there is parking and fairly easy access to the creek. Good Luck to your sons and have fun!!!

Thanks, took a quick spin out there today, stopped at Linbrook Park (with playground and ball fields), assuming that they stock right there?  Is that the area where you mean?  Little smaller than I anticipated.  Might just push a little further and hit North Park, but I'm assuming it gets jammed on the 1st day.

You went a little to far, or not far enough if you came from 79. They used to start stocking where the red belt hits Big Sewickley Creek, that's down the road about 300 yards. You were on a feeder stream.

Let me help alittle here.  I grew up fishing this creek in the 90's.  It was my backyard.  As far as I remember they did not stock past said road.  There is parking there, however there is only one or two "good" spots to fish.  Having two small children in tow, if your not the first there, your gonna be out of luck.  I think your going to be disappointed.  There are three other spots I would look into.  There used to be garage, (there maybe a beer distributor there now)  Talking about 3/4 mile below spot a.  Spot b.  used to be a dump on the left.  That was a spot I occasionally fished.  Spot c.  Is where its at.  Because they can back the stocking truck up and let her loose.  You'll pass some soccer fields on your left (heading towards fairoaks)  If they are still there.  As soon as the road starts to turn right look to park on the left. or head down to the convenience store to turn around.  This spot used to have really nice garden there.  This where I would go.  You can easily find a stretch of flat ground and position yourself next to any tree, brush.  So no one can "infringe" on your area.  If your confused, I will be more than glad to help out more.

OK, I'm starting to feel pretty dumb here, this is a map of where I'd be coming from.  I parked at Linbrook, which I know now is only a feeder stream, point B on this map is where it feeds into Big S I think, slabfinder, you are near this point B?

    Thanks for all the effort!
