Based on the weather right now, I'm going with June 5th!!!
Poles waxed, new line, tackle sorted, boat ready, but no ice breaker

i heard we shipped a bunch of it today.  checking our inventory, i haven't seen a snowblower in a long time.

you rekindled another memory.  in the days of glass spinning rods, i would always put a coat of raindance on all of them.  i loved to tinker with fishing gear in the off season.  heck, one year i polished the spinner blades on a couple of dozen mepps and c.p. swings.

Ya, I still wax the rods.  Take everything out of the tackle boxes and clean the box out and take inventory.  Something to do on these cold days. Sharpen hooks, oil reels   Still debating on a new Lowrance...
Speaking of salt.   13 pallets on Wednesday gone in seven hours!
Thought I read that there was an ice fishing tourney on Pymatuning this week?  Going to have great weather for it!

with the winds and the temps as predicted, i think i will be content to listen to it on the radio...lol.

as for ice melt, we tried three or four stores a little over a week ago.  none to be found so i attacked the ice pack at the end of the driveway with a spud bar.  an hour later and a knotted up back, i succeeded in seeing concrete again.  man, this is another winter for the books.

ed, historically we are in the water by st. patrick's day.  i remember one year that we were wading the ohio side and were casting onto the ice and dragging our rapalas back into the water.  we caught some fish doing this.  i'm needing waders and a spinning rod badly right now.

Rich. Just checked my phone calendar. March 15 th last year. I checked my log, too! Two of us for four hours, 4 crappie and a small walleye. 10mph out of the NW and 47 degree air temp. I'm getting too old for that!

john, in the mid 80s, i fished during a snow storm.  i could not see or even hear where my rapala landed, but the fish were waiting for it.  cold and wet, but what a memory.

You need to get your hands on a thickness planer or something.  That's a lot of sanding.

Airboat?  Is it under 20hp?  That would be ingenious for Muddy Creek.

Nice fish Dave and John. It was a horrible morning to be out on the southend ice with it raining and foggy all morning but it looks like it cleared up really nice as the day went on. We had a little get together down the jimtown area. Cooked some burgers and chicken and caught some small crappies and gills. Gave some roadrunner jigs away that Blakemore sent me. See you on the open water when i get back to town. Headed back to KY Lake in a couple weeks for a month.
