St. Croix Premier Crankbait Road

Hey guys I have been looking at picking up a new graphite cranking rod and had the St. Croix Premier 7'0'' MHM in mind for shallow to medium diving cranks.  I've read some reviews here and there but there's not a lot of insight as to the rod's performance.  I have heard that the MM is a little too light for some of the heavier baits, so I felt the MH would best fit my needs.  Can anyone provide me with some insight or previous experiences with this series of rods??  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Nothing but St. Croix for me.....................
     
    I don't think you'd be sorry with the 7'0" MH for tossing crank baits.  Back it up with a Shimano 6:1 reel and don't overkill the line weight.

    PS.  Fish/USA did have a sale on Croixs.

    They did have a sale and I almost pulled the trigger on a 70MM Avid for 110 bucks... which is a steal at that price, but after further consideration I felt the MM would be too light for my needs.  I too am a St. Croix man for life... I prefer Lews reels over Shimano for baitcasting reels, mostly because I can buy more of them for the price of 1 chronarch lol.  However for spinning reels I'm shimano all the way.  Wasted my money on a Daiwa last year just to "try another brand"... extremely disappointed.  Thanks for your insight man.

    I have the SCIII MM and have built a few MHM for others.  I have never felt underpowered with the medium for throwing cranks like the Bevy Shad or 4" Thundercrank.  If you're gonna be tossing big, deep divers, then I'd say go with the MH.  You will loose some casting distance on the smaller stuff with the MH tho.

    Yeah I just picked up the MHM and it has a little more flex in it than my glass cranking rod which makes me feel good about the purchase.  Its also significantly lighter... But I do think that throwing the lighter stuff will be difficult with this rod.  I may just have to bite the bullet and buy another rod... lord knows we all have that problem.

    Yeah my fiance made me sign a contract after the premier rod purchase... can't purchase any more until after the wedding.  She's letting me buy a boat though so I don't know how she wins in this situation hahaha...

    That really sucks MrM_.............  FishUSA just sent me a news letter, they have spinning reels on sale starting today.  Hey, maybe ya can put one on lay-a-way and pick it up after the wedding or ya could always say it came with the boat. (lol).

    Haha... thanks for the congrats man.  Were getting married on June 18, 2016.  I'm sure I'll pick up a rod or reel if I really need one, but I'll be honest... I probably already have way more than I actually need.  Then again... what am I saying... you can always use another rod or reel haha.   I'd rather get a boat now though.  Been fishing out of a square back canoe for the last 2 years and its worked well, but when the wind picks up on Pymatuning its tough to get around.  Plus I can only cover so much water with a trolling motor.
