trivial pursuit

Hit the water at about 730 after much time spent preparing and respooling reel...crossed to an island spot that fishes only above 750... Nothing... Crossed further to far bank... Was floating sacs through a unique spot with 3 separate seems all with in casting distance from the bank.. Switched to a bead above and slam... Connected with a solid hunk of chrome that was all of a 300+ yard chase... Brought it to hand after 3 different hang ups on rocks and wet sleeves... Had to bust out right after to tend to home matters... The pursuit and time spent was well worth it in the lake effect snow and temps not above 25... Hot chrome!!!

I will just include my report in this one. Like you I got there at 0730 fished some different water this am without a peep, went to the usual spot and got a spot at the tail rock. Fished a while and had a nice bright female slam my sucker spawn in the faster water after a brief fight she was gone. Broke my leader off at the fly line so that was that.

Fished by myself down low... Gotta love the guy from across the way that I came past while fighting who was yelling to me to give it more side pressure... The fish had 50 yds of line on me...I calmly told him the fish had already wrapped me up 3 times on rocks... If he knew the water that was in front of him that my fish was holding tightly in ...he would've realized I was gently pulling the fishes head up off the bottom to try and float it over the jagged broken bed of slates... Easier said than done with a low teen (12ish-13) pound long slender hen with a solid girth...

Thanks charlie... Bringing the fish through the skinny water above and through the wall pool was a task to say the least. One of the tougher battles I've had in a while. It was really cool to watch the fish stop and hold in all of the seems I normally target.

Wish I could have gotten the shot of the year. Saw a bald eagle in a tree just above the wire last week. It would swoop down grab at a carcass and go back to the tree and eat.  Too far with the phone.

This is the first T-day in about 4 years that we didn't head to the river right after dinner. Thanks for the  good reports guys, at least someone is after them.  I'm hoping in about another week or so.....
That is a nice shot, Clint.
