Chartiers trout?

Fished above South Point this morning for some smallmouth and carp. Along the way I managed to catch a 13inch or so bow on a small minnow plug. Do you think someone stocked it? I find it hard to believe it swam upstream from little chartiers.

Perhaps? These days nothing I catch from Chartiers Creek is a surprise. Its come a long way. I recall 25+ years ago when catching a panfish or a bass was cause for celebration.

I'm not familiar with Chartiers, but I've found stocked trout in some crazy places before.

Last AUGUST while fishing for bass I found a golden rainbow just downstream of Franklin on the Allegheny. The year before I found a clearly stocked brook trout in a tiny remote, unstocked stream. The stream it feeds is only stocked with browns and bows, but other tribs to that bigger stream are stocked with brookies. Stocked trout are sometimes caught out of a bigger warmwater stream by me, and those fish apparently come from a smaller stocked trib way upstream.

Sure, someone could have dumped the fish in there but they have fins and can and do swim far distances.

Could of swam up. I read study on a tagged trout stocked in Pine Creek that flows through the PA Grand Canyon. It traveled over 75 miles in less than a week. Nothing surprises me anymore......

maybe it came outta the sky during a "troutnado"...seriously -don't they stock trout in canonsburg lake..looking for water that actually had oxygen in it, the trout probably migrated to the moving water..

Well with the crazy rain we've had this year I guess it's possible, just hard to believe. Now, catching a shopping cart, spare wheel or cab from a truck is more likely. I'll put my money on troutnado.

Little chartiers isn't that far and I've caught them where you caught yours. Also they end up below Heidelberg dam miles downstream. Caught quite a few big ones in there. I don't think anyone is stocking trout anywhere else on chartiers.
