Emeralds for perch fishing

I hope to do some perch fishing on Sunday when the Lake calms down.  Does anyone know the bait situation as far as emerald shiners go?  I know this time of year it gets sketchy.  Thanks for any info.

On the contrary, shiners come in as the water cools. I saw literally thousands in Lampe last Sunday.

what pie said.  in august the baitshops have a problem getting them cause they're way out and deeper.  shouldn't be a problem now.  with that said, as long as they were biting, we limited on perch countless times on the fat heads in august.

Hmm.  The charter we took this year said (when I asked about just using fatheads) that they weren't native to the lake and the perch didn't like them.  That seemed crazy to me, since most perch seem to eat anything that even resembles bait and also that the emeralds we were using were dead AND cut in half.  But this guy fishes Erie for a living, so I figured who was I to argue?

It was a great year for perch. If you put yourself over a hungry school they would hit pretty much anything. On our last trip out we sent EMPTY Sabiki rigs down and caught many...we had minnows in the bucket but it was just faster to not even bait your hooks. Just insane. Sadly I'm taking my baby to storage tonight for her winter slumber....Bring on the hard water to hold me over till spring
