Trail Camera Photos ==

This year I have 2 cameras out.

I recently ordered and bought a Moultrie at the hardware. So far I like the camera ($99). I definitely like the infra-red idea, but miss the color the other "white-flash" camera gets. At least at night I have less chance of it getting "discovered" and stolen....

here's a pic from last night....

One disappointment so far this year is that last year I got really great photos of some really nice bucks headed to the neighboring apple trees. This year this is the only fella showing up so far ...

There were 13 deer in the neighbor 's field Wednesday night last week. Five were legal bucks, two of those were really nice.

Not planning on harvesting any of them.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Where i hunt the apple crop is almost nonexistent, I have no idea if thats the case where you are, but it may lead to a camera move for you. Also has there been any change in the major food source?

Where i get the most pictures tend to vary year to year depending on how the local farmers plant which crop in the fields.

Over all I have am having a very good year for my three cameras, In terms of the different bucks on camera i am probably at or slightly above my "average" number of bucks, that could be due to I am getting better at placing them. I do have some super nice deer this year. And when that velvet comes off they seem to scatter.

I have plans on harvesting one this year, but my plans do not always work out but it is still fun none the less

    thanks guys...

The apple trees around here are loaded, especially at the neighboring camp, that is where they are headed in the photos. Same as last year BUT I have no idea where the bigger bucks are or if they got harvested. I did not hear of any of them getting shot though ????

As for posting  photos... every since I started my message board over 10 years ago I have a separate account at Lycos.com. I pay to have stuff kept there, including pictures, so I can just "link" to them. I have never tried to use the thingy they have here for photos ???

As for the area, a crop field near here has over 30 deer in it every night, including some nice bucks, maybe they will end up over here later...  it's only about 1/4 mile away from here....

Thanks Doc. I'll keep trying and you do the same. Bucks are still running togeather but, once love is in the air I'm sure you'll get some pictures of some good hat racks.. Set up at a scrape or even a rub when they begin to appear.

Hunt Safely; when the trigger is pulled, you can't call it back.

Most of the trees around here that were loaded last year are bare this year. The few that were bare last year are loaded including the one I shot a big 9 under two years ago. I set up and brushed in another ground blind there yesterday. Seems to be a lot of red oak this year in my areas. Only one good legal buck on my cameras although two others high and wide but lacking the points in the correct locations.

I have cameras setting on tripods so I can move about with little difficulty.  The tripods can be adjusted to any terrain and the camera can be set to any angle.  Works really well when you need to get above the goldenrod, green brier or, looking for a special effect shot.  Having just purchased a new camera and eager to get a feel for setting the parameters;  I chose to set up along my rifle range as I would be doing some shooting and there would be action to get lots of pictures.  Just sat down at the bench rest when this dude pops up, 100 yds. out.

Just a note; the reflector to the right of picture is for laser sighting scopes during the daylight, works quite well.

Those are two tame bucks your State takes around at night to place in front of trail cams- they do it to boost tag sales.

Nice-- would have me out there dawn till dusk.

    Well past two mornings....NADT   (not a damm-thing).
squirrels running through the walnut trees making in sound like automatic weapons being used.
Heard one grunt around 8:15 in a hollow 100 yards away,
Oh turkeys gobblin' to my left 1000 yards out.
Same as last year, 3rd week someone flips the switch and I see a dozen or so every time i am out.

    I hear you I do........

Hoping for some rain to quiet the woods a bit. I find it much easier to get my exercise by walking; walking thru the woods with a bow or gun. (lol)

Not seeing many signs of 'the rut' in my area yet.

    Best of luck...

WCW after seeing your pics and your hunting grounds. Is that your tree stand on the other side of the marsh, just up from my place? (lol)

I recall you mentioning it sounding like we hunt similar turf.

After seeing your pics, there is no doubt about that.

While I'm bending your ear I would like to say; From me and mine, to you and yours, HAPPY THANKSGIVING. :-)

BTDT-I thought they were good enough to share I like playing with trail cams run them all year.
They can teach you a lot about a property if you experiment with times and locations.

I see a big tower on the other side of marsh/swamp maybe we are neighbors...
It took me years to adjust from hunting the "woods" to this thick swamp brush
but it keeps things interesting when you can not see far never know what will pop out from the brush.
Pay attention to the birds they will tell you when something is moving thru LONG before you can see it.

Happy Turkey Day to you and everyone else!!!

    WCW Happy Thanksgiving.

My pleasure to share pictures and stories with another who enjoys and appreciates our great outdoors.

Gotta go change out the cards in my field cams. Hope I have something for all to see.

    Til the next time.........
