Should be a nice thread... Only reason I had you put the pics on the other thread was to show my water of preference. And the reason I waited til Sunday was only to save viewers some money. Would hate to post a pic on a Thursday or Friday to have folks think the run is on. I honestly thought to myself it was gonna keep going from there but as we know now...it didn't...

    Tight lines guys.

Fish are trickling but by no means is it a run. There were way more people than fish this past weekend

Here is my favorite stretch (actually down stream right out of the pic). . It's the best one I got of the place.

Here are two pics. from a work trip I had to Missoula, MT a few weeks ago.  I didn't get to fish the water but I lived vicariously watching others fish it.  It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, and a fly fisherman's dream.

We're heading here (this was from our last venture in June) the end of next week to start vacation. The striped ones are moving heavy with lots of peanut bunker this year, just like in the glory days of the late 90's. Might be hard to pull up stakes after a few days and head to the SR.

Thanks, Dtrobe. Here's the same view with a striped freight train. I skipped silly season on the SR for decades and went to the coast instead.  Thanks to the great people I've met, it's not so bad if you can get a little room and actually fish. I'm really looking forward to seeing my friends on the river and sharing a drift. I've had some DAM good times.  I was married on this beach, though, so it's really close to my heart. It's our favorite place.  Hope this isn't considered a hero shot, if it is, the fish is the hero, the ugly dude with the beard's just along for the ride.Attachments are not available: Download requirements not met

2b, I don't know what chupes are, but I'll assume a clam?  Lots of little necks, and that's what the piece of land is called that is across the water in the pic. The clams in the Essex and Ipswich rivers are considered some of the best in the world. My wedding reception was in a clam shack.

There's a number of Plum Islands- this is Plum Island Sound-part of Cape Ann, North of Gloucester, Mass.  The PI you refer to is in Long Island Sound.

It was a gorgeous afternoon and well spent sighting a carp and wading the Hudson. The smallie fishing was mucho en fuego. I'd rather be chasing salmon, but I'm grateful for what I got!

Will say, there were FAR MORE people in Essex county, keene valley and the high peaks then in Pulaski this weekend.
Hundreds of cars and thousands of people lined the roads and trails for a full blown peak fall season in the Adk's.. Heck there was even some marathon from Saratoga to Lake placid going on too..
I was worried seeing all the crowds but quickly realized, NONE were fishers :)
It will be super hard leaving the solitude and drop dead gorgeous scenery of the ADK/s for the smell of salmon.. I took way more landscape photo's the fish pics.. Wish I had a real camera because some of the landscape surroundings are TRUE Wall Hangers :)
Like this little jewel : It produced :

Here is where 3 PHAT browns were slurping everything but what I threw: One is crusing in the center.

So today we found the 1/0 estez flies were the ticket, all Rainbows.. Must be why they work so well on the SR:

A few more shots of the crowds we had to beat away with our rods:

    And more boring fish:

Tons more pic's to store away but the Memories will live on forever..
Salmon keep getting further and further away from my mind

From 4Way Street.  One of the classic albums/cassette/8tracks!    Great song and performance.   I love when Neil Young says he is gonna Play Southern Man nice and slow tonite!  Maybe the most exciting thing recently without the fish running?  Never made it up last week and it looks like a good move.  Hope things pick up  for November!    Watched a couple reruns of Woodstock with additional footage and  have become a Canned Heat fan!  Anyone ever get to see the remaining  members.   They looked like kids in the Woodstock Rerun? Put on one hell of a performance!  I Believe a Change is gonna come!
