One thing I was told by a very reputable guide and former member ( chrome ) is that when the chubs disappear, the salmon are here.
Humm , when I asked why he said they get attacked by sharks. There goes the theory of salmon don't bite .

Last year we fished during a 750 release on labor day and a small (very small) rainbow was running the current along the bank. My son spotted it and followed it. The little fella had him in his hands for a split second but we eventually watched him scurry up along the soft seem along the bank... That little rainbow BTW had a big chomp mark on his tail :)

That would most likely explain the secret spot we spoke about through pm ;)

More food to add for thought......... How many folks have caught salmon or steelhead that had dilapidated spines in the back half of their bodies??? I've learned to believe these are fish that were struck by a large fish while they were in parr or smolt stage but still managed to make it...

SALMON DON'T BITE.
I am sure they just ask the fallfish to move out of the holes and hope they do.
Kings don't snap at and  chase steelhead that are stealing eggs from their redds either.
They don't fight other kings for the best holding water or right to spawn.
Once they are in fresh water their throats close and they can no longer open their mouths to bite.
THEY CAN ONLY OPEN THEIR MOUTHS TO GET LINED.
ITS A FACT.
I HAVE READ IT ON MFF.

They keep scheduling them after my bedtime.
Like 7 p m and stuff like that.
 
The paper can't be right though because every snagger I have ever met told me they don't bite.
I hallucinated that huge king at Russel grabbing a 15 pounded above the tail, picking it up out of the water and shaking it.
 
That 20+ steelie we saw at Sandy bumping the king hen pushing eggs and falling back feeding on them while the bucks chased him didn't happen.
Snaggers tell me I make this stuff up.

Clint I've caught plenty on egg patterns Bigger ugly things with motion getting aggressive hits work better for me.
Eggs are a follow up pattern if fish are present but spooked.
