Daughter's first solo fly

My 10 year old daughter took a one day fly tying class and then asked me to help her tie up a jig with deer tail hair from the deer she shot this year. What an exciting thing for me to hear from her, I was very excited and she tied up a nice 1/32 oz jig. Here is a pic of her tying it at my desk.

Very nice. Hope she gets something on it. Is that a danvise? That's on the short list of vises ive narrowed my search for a new vise down to. Do you like it? I might get the griffin spider instead though.

A nice, positive post JEB. Great that she seems to enjoy tying. Maybe a trip to the Erie tribs. in her future? Bet she'd love to catch a big 'bow on one of her creations.

Oh yeah, I'm thinking about taking her in a year or two.
She tied an elk hair caddis at the class better than I can tie.... lol.
Both my daughters love the outdoors, I take this one hunting and my youngest just fishes now, but starting her off on the BB gun this year.
They both love to eat wild game too, it does make me a proud daddy.
Taking my youngest to Laurell Hill trout farm this Sunday, she wants to catch a trout on a dry, so thats a good place for youngesters.....

    @ JEB...............

Just wondering if you ever watched a guy on YouTube by the name of Davie McPhail? I tried putting a link to his sight on the board but, like tying flys, I'm a novice. Search his name on YouTube, I think you and your girls would enjoy his videos.

    Good stuff!
