Lake Arthur thermocline?
Has it set up yet? Going up there tomarrow, supposed to be a decent day. Trying to setup a plan, any info would help.

Im gonna assume it hasn't set up and resume early summer tactics. I have a cold front to deal with but its sure better than a double cold front!

If you have a fish finder chances are you can see the thermocline by turning the sensitivity to full. Your instruction manual may even have directions. Or, drop a fishing thermometer over the side and check the temps. at various depths. When you find out, let the rest of us know. Happy fishing!!

Tough fishing yesterday, ALOT of short strikes, bait peelers. 8 hours not much to show for it. Wind picked up midday, cleared out the lake. Just happy I didn't have a day of Thunderstorms and Rain! Probally should of went shallow once the wind picked up, had to keep ahold of the tiller or boat went side ways into 2 foot rollers with caps!

That sounds like time to find a wind blocking cove, unless you are trolling. Which is still a pain in the rear to stay on course if you are trying to make passes on structure, ect.
I was going to respond, but noticed that you were likely already fishing. I usually only notice a thermocline in water deeper than 22'-23'. Most of the lake isn't deep enough to have a noticible thermocline. I rarely catch fish in water deeper than 25', and usually suspending in that depth, near shallower water or structure.
I have seen fish lined up at the thermocline near the dam, but have never figured out how to get them to bite...

I was catching some decent walleye midday in June in 18-20 fow, later in the day 7-11 fow. Should of revisited that pattern, Instead we launched north of the Park office. Marked alot and missed a few - short strikes @ (neallys point). Another guy was running a trolling pattern for 2 hours around the point. Tried sneaking in for a few drifts but he acted like it was his spot! 74 degree water

if you know the guy was trolling the spot for two hrs. why would you try to as you say sneak into his pattern to drift . I just don't understand ! OH LOOK THAT BOAT HAS BEEN CIRCLING THAT SPOT FOR A LONG TIME , LETS GO SQUEESE IN AND FOUL HIM UP , OR AT LEAST MAKE HIM GO AROUND US ? COMMON SENSE , JUST COMMON SENSE.

I don't have to justify what I did. For the most part I was out of his way. Everyone knows the that point holds a lot of fish. You just don't have a piece of water toyourself unless your anchored. You can go back to your couch now.

Caught a pile of walleye over the weekend. They didn't bite long, but the time they did, they were fast and furious. All of them were on harnesses but another guy was trolling lures and did pretty good too.

Chris, absolutely! Putting a deck on, but should be done next week. Didn't get out much this year, so making up for it in the fall sounds good to me. I'll be in touch.
