Lifetime license and trout permit decision ===

well I am sure this will stir up some comments ============

Also today, Commissioners voted to require senior resident lifetime license holders who want to fish for trout to purchase a trout/salmon permit each year. Seniors who purchase a trout/salmon permit in conjunction with a resident lifetime license before Jan. 1, 2015, will be grandfathered.

My local PFBC commissioner stopped in at work after the meeting to tell me of this decision...

My first response was.. "what are you going to do about the Lake Erie permit...?? or the trout/Erie combo ??"

He just stood there looking at me then said... "wow.. we did not even talk about that... I'll have to get back to you on that one .....""

Not much of a response so far.
I am sick and tired of seniors getting these government hand outs. Discounted coffee at mcdonalds, free bus passes, free trout stamps etc.... whats next free medical insurance ? free viagara passed out at the nursing homes ?

i say put em on a ice flow and shove them out on the lake.

Arrrgh......... That would be discrimination in me journals. If thems that purchase after 2015 have to anti-up so then those a-buying afore the year, pay the price. I'm a callin' me law maker. Hoist me anchor and set the sails.

ps. @NotherOne; eat your heart out dude. In time you'll be there. Har-har-harrrr!!

Well, some of these guys have been buying licenses every year since they were 16. So I have no problem with them getting a free lifetime with all the stamps.

I think the stamps should be eliminated period. The fish commission said the stamp would be temporary for Erie. Betcha if people quit buying them the commissioners would back up and regroup.

if people stopped buying them you'd see wardens at every marina checking licenses everyday.  you'd also see these guys targeting fishermen everywhere, on the peninsula, the streams etc.  they'd more than make up for the lost revenue with the fines they'd be handing out.

There in, lies the problem with the trout stamps. If a person does not purchase such a stamp then that person is forbidden to fish certain waters regardless of the type of fish they seek. Many inland waters of PA. is limited to those that hold a stamp just because the water is stocked with trout. Many of the waters stocked with trout do not and never have supported the fish. If allowed to continue, the fish commission will have every stream and most lakes listed as trout waters. This is nothing more then a way for the fish commission to raise revenues without getting legislative permission. What's to stop the requirement of bass, pike, musky and, walleye stamps in the near future? PA. anglers is what.

cbeagler hit the nail on the head. The only time I didn't get a fishing or hunting license was while I was in the army. That's why on January 2, 2014 I was at the court house getting my life time license. I thank God I lived long enough to purchase one.

for those not on the lifetime license/stamp program, the trout stamp costs 2.6 cents per day.

the fish commission hasn't raised the license fee for years and we're complaining about an extra $10 to be able to fish any waters we want (an extra $10 for erie).
