Rod Tip Repair

Question. What's the best stuff to use to fix a rod tip? I bought one of those Berkley or Fuji (cant remember) rod tip kits and it seems like the rod tip could easily be pulled off. I have a new rod that was bought with a tip missing the insert in the guide. I'd like to fix it.

    The last kit I bought came with a hot glue stick. I threw that away and used 5 minute epoxy and haven't had an issue.

    I stock a variety of tips.  If you want to get a proper sized one (those kits are always oversized), shoot me a message.

    I definitely will give you a holler Trout About. I am just in Smithton so as soon as I get the time to mess with it, I will message you. I have repaired the tip on an ultralight of mine with a store bought kit and it was a little too big. Its only a $50 rod but it is brand new. It is just missing the insert so its not like any thing is broken.

     is there a safe way to loosen it and bring it back in line?



     
    Slowly and carefully heat it with a lighter..... CAREFULLY, or you'll end up melting the tip under it. Actually, hold the lighter so the flame is a few inches below the tip.  It'll take a bit of time, but it should melt the glue and allow you to realign it.  Some are real stubborn tho.  A lot of tip replacements I've done, I had to cut the tube off with a dremel.

    Just noticed that one of my fly rod tips was waaaaay cattywompus when I put it together last week...like over 45 degrees off of the line the rest of the guides follow...I'll have to try the "heat it & beat it" approach.
