Want to buy a cement industry ?
We were just merged, sold for 44 billion and 53% shareholder rights..
I was wrong before.. NY gave  a 20 year (not 10) exempt from tax increase.. Jailwater ain't got deep enough pockets..

Worked 5-3 today so no morning fish.
Cleared to around 6-8 inches of vis. Dropped a couple hundred cfs.
Fished about 45 minutes .
Suckers are showing up in numbers (I had to shake a couple off the hook and saw others caught and rolling about).
Lost 1 chromie talking to a guy I met yesterday with my head turned and landed 1 other.
Water drop.

Mandatory action shot

Crappy photo of fish landed

Tomorrow morning again til 10 or 11 then the dentist .

Newly minted hen fish.
All I've seen lately.
Well that and suckers now.
Hoping my luck holds and I can throw some slack and shake them off before they can hook themselves.
Looks like its don to about 400 cfs so its the #6 rod and its a pain to either have to play them out or break them off costing a fly to get back to fishing faster.
Alas poor poor me.
Sorry for the pity party.

Well, we all know that once the suckers run, the steelhead run is over.  Time to put the big stuff away until fall!

So true luckster so sad but true!
Nothing left to do might set the alarm clock for next thanksgiving when the next steelhead will run.

Wish you would have posted sooner so I would have known better than to fish this morning.

Here's a clot buster for you HT.
Six weight stick and the click pawl with virtually no drag

Home cooking breakfast by 7:30
New something was afoot when the suckers disappeared.
Friend had someone ask him for one so this went home.
Lucky not only the suckers being in thick but the colors on this male means the run is over! ;)

Got up, but I've had a bug for the last 2 days, and I did not want to stray too far from the plumbing.  Maybe a while tomorrow, I'm sure they have to be all over the place if I walk a bit, especially now that the water is dropping and warming.

Went by yesterday PM (You fish when you can, and this was the first time it has not been pouring, snowing or 35 mph winds that I could get out in weeks).  Pretty big crowd, flow around 260, but still muddy like 800 in the old days.  Saw two stocker browns caught, would have walked up and checked gravel, but there was zero visibility.  It is disturbing how few people know what the regs are, some jalorm was telling the kid who caught the browns that he could keep all he wanted, any size.  Or maybe the regs only apply to some of us, others are entitled to make their own.

They dumped 3000 off the bridge yesterday from what I heard.
Caught a pair close to two pounds apiece down in the stairstep pool on peacock herl nympths under a boober.
No steel to be found but one slob of a sucker.
Biggest I've seen this year.

Went to  a local pier to test my new rod.
Well  not exactly new.
Last summer my bro in law hit a shoal in the islands and I tumbled breaking my to spinning rods.
10 inches off the tip off one and the butt of the other.
Put them together and I've turned a9 and an 8 1/2 foot rods  into a 9 3/4 rod.
Didn't  catch squat but there was 3 0r 4  little browns and a tiny coho caught.

That does look pretty rugged Clint.. Seems like a tough few weeks of high water up there.. Hope you get a shot at them again..
Super busy here working on major house construction so I haven't even looked much at a computer much less rod & reel.
It's coming along slowly but surly.. Gonna rip that nasty old board & batten off and sheath and wrap soon. Got a chance to wash/clean and wax the ole Islander and she shined up nice.. A few more tweaks to do yet before I splash her down..
The Mighty Hudson is coming back to shape and there were plenty of people fishing the trib out back this weekend.. If I get time after work Id like to take the trusty J boat out to see if I can stick a striper.
Going to be fishing hard for them this weekend for sure.. All work and no play just don't last too long here..
Be Well folks:
Peace & Tuna

Two weekends until Pike opens, and at the rate it is NOT warming up, if DEC does not issue an emergency closure, it could be a good year to be up in  Fish Creek for walleye that haven't dropped back yet.

Cleveland Steel compliments of the Rocky River  Got out and wet a line while visiting daughter in Ohio.Monday I went to the Chagrin River way up stream where I thought they should be but there were NO Steel to be found. So then I looked at the Grand and it was high and murky, decided to try a trib of the Grand but it was low and clear.Had four hookups there but because of the low water and size of the creek it was n't much to talk about.By mid afternoon it was very hot and that was the end of fishing Monday.
Did n't get out until Thursday  and went to the Rocky. The Rocky runs through a huge park and is in the city of Cleveland,so there you are fishing for Steel in a large city,it's a little weird but that's what it is.Anyway I found lots of fish and played with a bunch, lost more than I landed but brought a few nice ones to hand.Today I went back to the Rocky and had a bunch to play with.I had one on that might have been the largest Steel I ever fought,it looked as large as a KIng When first hooked it just dogged it and tugged but did n't run, then it got tired of me and took off brought it's head to the surface and thrashed its head....the fly popped out. This was a huge male and its head looked as big as a Salmon.I did manage to bring several to hand today.
I guess that's it for me this season as I won't be able to get away again for awhile.

Glad you finally got out PA.
When a really big one swings its head side to side it feels like you've hooked a king.
One of the biggest I've ever hooked (I couldn't follow) just swung its head peeling 2 or 3 feet of line from the reel and backing down.
Holding for a second then doing it again.
Nothing I could do but hope it came back.
Never did and I had to tighten down and snap it as it went over out of the hole.
Still remember the shakes it gave me.

Hey Lucky hope the jazz fest is to your liking.
I think they should hold it year round.
Seems like I don't see as many shootings on the news while it was going on.
