Opening Day 2014

We went to Kooser. Didn't do that great but was fun getting out. I caught one and my cousins caught 3 or four apiece. Didn't seem like anyone was doing any good. Some went out with full stringers but many left early. Don't think I'll go out on opening day next year. Too much craziness. I'd rather take a day and go throughout the first week when most people are back at work.  It was a nice day out though.

You're right about it being a wonderful day weather wise. We fished a private club that was shoulder to shoulder, but everyone next to us was an experienced angler , so I didn't see a tangle the entire time. Action was non-stop the first 2 hours, then the sun came out and it slowed way down. Good times !!

Found a nice quiet cove on our club with only 1 other boat.  My 11-year-old daughter won first place in the derby with a 24" rainbow. " />

Good to see the young kids getting out there catching fish and having fun. I only caught one at Kooser. My brother caught none and cousins caught a few apiece. I was enjoying watching this little kid next to me catching them. You like to see the kids having fun. I never do that well on opening day. Not sure why. It seems like if I am fishing live bait, the guy next to me will be catching them with the same bait and I wont be catchin any. I was throwing spinners and bait Saturday. The guy next to me was catching them on spinners and I wasn't. I usually do well a few days or weeks after the season opener.

Had a great opening day at Keystone State Park and Turtle Creek with family and friends. Caught close to 40 fish, and even knocked em dead with the fly rod (I usually spin fish). As a group we kept 20 that I filleted and smoked with a pepper and brown shugar rub. Soo good.

I was at Twin Sunday also, from about 10 till 12:30 and we managed 4...  They were quick then just shut off and we beat the water for about 1.5hrs.  Not sure if it was just the time or it was the warm up or pressure from the prior day.  But, there were risers and such through the gale force winds at times in the AM...

I can't stand lake fishing for trout once the regular season opens. I like the moving water. Don't know how you guys do it. LOL...

But it's great to see the kids out there having fun. That's what it is all about, passing along our knowledge. We need way more of that,  Nice job Dads & Moms !

I have never done well on the lakes on opening day. When I used to fish the creeks, I usually did well. I usually do better after the first week.
