Lake trout?

Lake trout?

I was wondering when the lake trout will be shallow and if i could get to them with a kayak?

    Josh, Most of the folks up here use either a fly rod or a spinning rod And bait of ones choice we don't see many folks casting a Kayak. But you can do what ever you want. Hope this helps.!!!!!!!!!

    Josh,
    The lake trout come in shallow in the fall, I'm not sure where to find them at ice out - for the spring we wait for water temps to come up into the 40's for them to really turn on.  When we fish in the spring for them we are usually in 40-60FOW, this would be a stretch on a kayak.

    ok thanks guys, that would be a stretch on the kayak...in the fall would they be shallow enough to try with the yak?
