Cold, If you ever do plan a boat trip again;  Try taking a Dramamine the night before and then again one hour before you get on the boat.  That works for me when going out very far in the ocean.

A lot of people just take one right before they go out but that doesn't give it enough time to work first.  If you get sea sick it's important to take one before you go to bed the night before.

I've tried everything from dramamine (two days in a row, so very similar to the night before), to essential oils, magnets, etc.  I even get queasy in a small craft if the water is choppy enough (found that out in the Chesapeake Bay 2 years ago in my kayak!). Dramamine helped, a little, but only so much that I wasn't still dry heaving in the evening after being back on dry land for hours.  Still plenty sick when I went to bed, though.

I've been out on a few large boats (and by large, I mean bigger than a canoe...basically bass boats and motorboats) for less than 2 hours on very calm water close to shore and been okay, but there's little rhyme or reason to it and it doesn't take much at all in terms of bobbing to have an effect.

I guess I'm just hypersensitive to it is all.  Landlubber for sure.  Just mainly pointing out that regardless of how it's presented to them, some kids just won't be a fan of boating.

Last time out on EJ I took Bonine and wore sea bands.
Bonine gives me weird dreams.  Not frightening weird, but mellow weird.

Re: Cold's two posted pictures; I still love the one of the female, funny looks and she's attractive, very cute. Jim Carey, not funny to me. He was OK when he did In Living Color, weird "stretchy" faces. Never liked his movies either. Different strokes for... .
Although Dramamine works for me, the major side effect [grogginess] makes it not so desirable, but better that than heaving out one's intestines. I don't know if I get motion sickness on a boat, but if I'm paying for a charter, I'm not taking the chance of finding out. There is the non-drowsy formula, but I've never tried it, mostly because of seeing the drowsy formula more often. Never had Bonine or the wrist bands.

LOVE Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Cold, THANKS!
Oh yeah, almost forgot. It was time for another female friend to visit for awhile. I know some [ many?] of you guys like the Devil In The Blue Dress and rest assured, she will return again.

People will buy their kids or grandchildren  a $100 + pair of tennis shoes, but their going to worry about a small fee that isn't  mandatory. When my grandson was about 8 yrs old he would have been proud to wear his own license like his dad and pap!

Initially I didn't have any intention of purchasing the new $5 license buttons [AKA pinbacks] because I viewed it as another expense, but since I collect and have the majority of the original pinbacks , I might as well collect the new ones. They look great in a wood, glass front shadow box with a lock on it. Does anyone remember the paper "licenses" [not a true license] that were issued to reimburse the commercial fishermen on Erie to cease their operations? I think they were issued for just 3 years.
