    Average is meaningless
    It changes hourly

    Look here for forecast:

Duud...Marty said it....there is no "average" height to the waves....ever on Erie. It could be flat, it could be 8 foot rollers...and it can get that way quick.

    Check the forecast

No doubt these duuds are right, there is no such thing as an average wave. If anything, the lake typically is more unpredictable in the fall.

Keep an eye on this link when you get closer to your trip. Experience has taught me not to trust any long term wave report. Only trust the ones predicting 24 hours away for less and even then there is no guarantee, but it more reliable than the long term forecasts.

My guess would be that 90% of the waves are under 5'
    Average might be 2'-4'
Any day can change to 6'-9'
    Listen to weatherband
A 19' 19oolb aluminum boat will not handle the same as a 19' 3000lb fiberglass boat.
Stay home if it calls for more than 2'-3'

Wave height is not really what matters it is frequency.
Chop is totally different than rollers and can beat you up fast
My Checkmate was made to run fast in chop and was a blast but it was not something to fish out of.

trust me man this boat does not weigh 1900lbs in fact it is actually 3000lbs, with the engine, and the aluminum is pretty thick too

take the advice given and check/trust the wave report the day before, 2 days at the most but i wouldnt trust that.

youre going to be fishing in close(near shore report) and imo that boat can handle 4's with no issue. just sayin'

It looks like a West coast river boat. And a jet drive to boot?

Nice boat 89! I have been fish'n Erie most of my life. Like the guy's said, there is no average. There will be days in oct. that we will have good lake conditions. It is all hit or miss. Like said above, don't listen to a wave report that is more than a day before. Your boat looks very seaworthy. I will be out there trolling until nov. Then you have all winter and spring to fish the streams. If you come and the Lake is too rough you can always go to Presque Isle and fish the bay.

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

Why is the alternator/drive belt off? Looks like you were doing some previous engine work. BTW cool boat.
