I have used both...but currently use a wading jacket with a pack. I like to have weight in the front and pack of the pack so that it does not cause any back ache after extended use. Also utilizing the combo allows that I either drop the pack while fishing in a spot for a while or wearing the pack without the jacket when it gets warm.


Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I use a sling and it is great, but make sure you get one that is big enough.  Mine was fine until I started collecting every fly I could think of but never use.  Now I have four or five fly boxes and I can never leave one home for fear I might need it.
