Alright here goes.......

I am going to purchase a noodle rod and reel combo. I think I have one picked out, but not definate because I wanted some input from those who are more knowledgeable.

http://www.fishusa.com/JBI-Ultramax-IM8-NoodleOkuma-Avenger-Spinning-Combo_p.html

Is this a decent combo? Not looking to break the bank. And I never used one, so I may not like it. I usually fly fish. but looking for another option.

What are your favorite rigging methods? Float no float? Bait, eggs, spinners etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is a good combo.... Just use your fly fishing skills as far as flotes, hook size, bait, jigs, line, it will come to you....
dont count on the J O's on this site they might think you are asking to much.. you might catch one more fish than them!!!!!!!!

I will personally attest to the Okuma avenger-30 reel. Excellent reel! When I did more noodle than fly, I would spool 8 pound test and then have an 8ft leader of fluorocarbon--blood or surgeon knot--for fishing mini foo jigs under a very small float. If casting spoons I would just use straight line.  Make sure that your drag is set properly. I can still remember the early days when these were used for salmon. I still have the video in my head of a king hooking up and making a torpedo run dead north and completely spooling more than one fisherman at trout run.

Sounds like a very good combo. Rig your flies like a fly rod and rig your lures like you would a light weight spinning combo and you won't be far off from exact. You will have to determine exactly what combo of line/lure/fly works best for you, but I have found 6 - 8pound test, in mono or fluro work best. Along with smaller weight lures. I don't recommend tossing anything above 1/2 oz.; but that's just me. No matter what rig you use , I recommend a small swivel right before your terminal tackle to help with line twist. Hope this helps.

     Hi Donnie, Hi Joey,

Hope to Fish/Party with u guys soon.

The amount ov ball bearings is way over rated. For instance the Okuma Stratus has 9 & the Shimano Stradic has 3. Don't get me wrong the Okuma is a decent reel for the price but many ov the lower priced reels with a lot ov bearings are crappy.

     Joe,

U & Smiley have any luck bookin' a cabin last time up??
