New bow with everything

OK, I have decided this is the year to upgrade my bow, it has killed almost every year since 1997 but it is getting old and ready to retire.
Thinking the new mathews just because I can.

What does everyone think, looking to go out west and maybe even north with it to hunt.
Looking for your thoughts on sights, rests, arrows, etc.
Any and all help would be great, I just started to do my research but hope to buy by the end of April so I get plenty of months of practice.

Thanks in adavance.

I like the Matthews but after trying them ended up with a BowTec. I really like the drop away rests. Any of the better grade arrows will do what you need. Get the best light gathering sight you can. For out West hunting you need a sight with a 60 yard pin.

Most of the bows today are made far better than they need to be. So pick one. I'd suggest a drop away rest, some type of string stopper/suppressor, and get a loopy on yer string. Those 3 items stand out among the top accessories in the bow world today. Lighted sights are nice.. some of them have problems with staying on. If you experience this, you need to put a piece of metal between batteries..such as part of a nail head. The engineering is off by about a 1/100 of an inch.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Dont get locked into a brand name. Go to different shops and shoot all the different bows you can. One will feel right. That's the one to get. Dont get too wrapped up in speed, go for the one that fits you the best.

whatever you do don't spend over 800$ on a bow that will be outdated in 3 years,,,go mid range keep up maintenance and it will last just as long as the 800$ bows. practice and the shooter make the shot not the bow remember that.

The new Hoyt Maxxis is incredible...I wish I was in the market for a new one, but mine in only on it's 3rd season.....As far as rest...I have had the best luck with a trophy taker drop-away rest...Sights...I'm quite partial to the extreme sights...Arrows...The easton Axxis or Carbon express ICM hunters are good as well...

Shoot a bunch and pick the one that feels best to you.  They all will kill a deer.  As far as sights, the range rover by Tru Glo is awesome.  A one pin sight.  I have never thought of owning a one pin sight but after shooting 2 of my buddies bows that have this sight, I will have one on my bow before this coming archery season.  Gathers light like you wouldnt believe.  Trophy taker fall away rests are good.  Never had a problem with mine.  IMO the easton axxis full metal jacket arrows are very hard to beat.  They are a little heavier arrow so not the fastest arrow but the kinetic energy and penetration make up for it.  An probably the most important thing, regardless of what you shoot, is practice.  Get into a league.  Animal or 3d.  I just shoot in the back yard but after joining a animal league back in january I am shooting better than I have ever been.  Good luck.  Hope you find a winner!

I personally get a new bow pretty much every year but its cause of my contacts & prior to working in the industry as a rep.
Go to a shop and shoot'em. Thats the best way because each bow will have a different grip, feel, & pull. Some let off smooth, some have a lil torque, and in between. Also depends on speed and brace height as well on these bows. Could be another whole ball game if your shooting fingers than a release. Main thing is make sure the bow fits you, its better to be short than long in draw length. Having a longer draw length, you will never have that firm wall and will creep some, giving u erradic arrow flight. Weight range depends on you, I know guys shooting all poundages, majority in the 50-60 range. But buy for where you use it most, dont worry about west or north, it wont be an issue. I know people that killed an elk with a 40#er and had a clean pass thru, its more shot placement than anything.
Accessories you got to buy what fits your budget, same with arrows, what fits your price range & hope u hit the target more than miss!
