Trolling Steelhead Tomarrow

Hey fellas I could use some advice on trolling tomarrow. Do you think taking into consideration the forecast 3-5ft waves early with a west wind it will be possible to use my planer boards ? What is the typical set up for flatlining spoons . Currently I run 30 lb braid main line / 20 lb leader flurocarbon 10ft to a bb swiwel & dark colored spoon. Should I start deep 50ft & work in shallow until the fish are found ? How about a tip on the troll speed , run small dipsys in front of spoons? Any help will be appreciated . Start in close flatlining ? or give up , anchor , & spoon it at at crewek mouth ?Thanks DC

I'd run down to Godfrey and troll back with them with the waves using boards flat lining shallow running plugs.  Make the pass from Godfrey to just west of the 'Nut.  If nada action, run back west, slip out a little deeper (15 to 25 fow) with riggers and deeper diving plugs and make the pass again.

75 to 80 is hot for steel right now. caught 17 of them today and a limit of walleyes. best day for me this year. its a shame that the steelies wont always revive themselves. most just float up after you release them. i kept 9 of them the others i released and most just floated. shame

Offshore and nearshore: spoons, spoons, spoons!  Try bright colors: pinks, blues, greens, oranges, sometimes purple can be hot.

    Nearshore: J-9 rappalas in black/silver, black/gold, orange/gold, blue/silver, chartreuse/silver.  Jr. Tstix in black/orange, pink/black, etc.

Last sunday . Boated 100 perch ( three hours fishing 11Am-2PM )  5 people using 8 poles on LIVE emeralds the dead ones don't do as well . 62 FOW 5 miles north ; north east of walnut . About 2 miles west of the point . If steelies get slow I would give her a shot . Forecast is 2ft or less Thurs - Sunday good luck - DC

Looks like the better half and I will give it a shot tomorrow, I think she'll be happy to find some perch ! Tried 3 times last week to get out to the perch, to rough each attempt. (she's sane) Need a bigger boat ! Do you know who may have emeralds ? Thanks for the info !

B.A.C. at route 5 and intersection with 98 North has Emeralds ( bait shop top of hill @ trout run ) keep the water cool / oxygenated like I said the jumbos like the lively critters.
