timing for steelies

When do steelies typically start making there run into the tribs in Erie, PA?
My friend and I want to plan a trip and we can not agree on a month. Any help would be great.

The steelies are already heading into the streams.  They are not there in huge numbers from my experience you will do best to fish close to the mouth for awhile, but you can find a few fish.  It is kinda hit or miss right now.  If I were coming from some distance, I would wait a few weeks, but if you itching to break out the rod and reel, go out to the streams.  Yesterday I landed one nice male steelie and tons of chubs in Walnut.  The water is on the low side and fairly clear.

    Good luck.

There are still metric tons of gobies down near the mouth.  I landed three on spoons.... average size 2 inches!!!!  Wow, now that is a catch.  Just for your info, I returned all the chubs to the creek.  When it comes to chubs, I practice catch and release....

I agree with the other fellas, November is apparently the best month. I know I was there the weekend before Thanksgiving last year and fished one stream that had about forty some fish in one hole and I had the whole to myself for about a half hour untill four of my friends arrived. We each probably got around twenty that day fishing another stream as well. Conditions were good too. It had rained two days before, it was overcast all day and the temps were good too.
